I just downloaded BIAB and installed it. I opened it at the end of the install and it said there was an update. So I clicked on the download button for the update and the bar got to the end, then the program crashed (froze). I shut the program down and re-opened, to be greeted with this message:
Cannot create file "C:\Program Files\bb\MaxPluginsToScan64.txt. Access is denied
So, I manually downloaded the update (build 317) and installed. Opened BIAB fine played around with a few things and thought, I'll install all the other stuff now. Installed the HiQ sounds for sforzando. Had a play around with the sounds in sforzando and thought, let's have a see what they sound like in BIAB.
opened BIAB to be greeted with the message:
Cannot create file "C:\Program Files\bb\MaxPluginsToScan64.txt. Access is denied
So it seems that BIAB will boot once, but not a second time...
Right click on the Band-in-a-Box desktop icon. Select "Properties". Select the "Compatibility" tab. Enable "Run the program as an administrator". Select the "Shortcut" tab Click the "Advanced" button Enable "Run as administrator"
These steps give the program permission to read and write data to the hard drive.
Where did you install Band In a Box to? What location?
You should have installed it to the top level of the desired drive, e.g. C:\bb\ (which is the default location)
Try uninstalling and reinstalling to C:\bb

From your above path, it looks like you might have installed BIAB to c:\Program Files. Is this correct?
If so, PG Music advise not to install the program into either '\Program Files' or '\Program Files(86)'. Should this be where you have installed BIAB, I'd delete that installation and re-install to just C:\bb
Also, after the installation, set BIAB to "Run as administrator" mode as Jim outlines. PG Music also recommend this.
Yes, I'm pretty sure reinstalling the the correct location will almost certainly resolve this.
