Ok, let's start with the good. ALL the PG Music products are superb! I've been a user since DOS ver. 1.4. Yeah I'm an old guy.
Now for the bad. The install program for BIAB and RB of the past few years SUCKS! Not everyone wants external drives with dangley bits around dogs and kids! BIAB works best when all is installed on the same HDD especially if one goes to the trouble of installing the Real Drums and Tracks on one's computer. This has been an annual burning sphincter! In other words not something one wants to recall. Especially if you have the Audiophile version.
If one does a complete re-install of WIN on a new massive C: (4TB) and then does a complete re-install of BIAB, there is a myriad of things that need to be backed up to make this a seamless and data lossless project. Especially if stuff in the new version gets moved around from the old.
In essence the "Have Fun" only happens after a crappy installation process!
Here's my humble suggestion; either fix the install program for my situation or do a detailed checklist of what to do before to backup and then how to get the backed up items to where they belong. In my case, I did what the install program suggested. DO an option #1 install and then copy the real drums and tracks to the bb dir on my c:. Was that the end? Not by a long shot. Enough griping. I hope someone who has the AUTHORITY (hint-hint Mr. Gannon) will get back to me or just take this suggestion as all of the others I have made over the years were ignored. Either way let me know your thoughts Mr. Gannon or coder responsible for the install program.

DJL, If you have a desktop and an empty Hard drive bay, you can have a hard drive dedicated to RealTrack/Drums only (not the program). That way, you do not have to do a "massive" reinstall of "everything", just the programs BIAB/RB, which are not hefty at all. And when smaller updates to real tracks come out, you can point installation to that secondary drive to be up to date.
I hope veterans will correct me, if I am wrong.

I have had no problems installing or moving BIAB files and folders around. I've always installed all the Realband/Realdrums on to a second installed audio hard drive in my my last few PCs due to the space taken. In fact all my BIAB files are now on this drive totalling around 143GB and it runs from there perfectly happily. BIAB installers and updates always check where you want the different elements stored. And these settings can be easily changed in Preferences if you need to do so at a later date.

YEP, i guess it's the only way, and all my BIAB stuff runs from ONE internal extra drive, also BIAB and RealBand. Never had a problem with that; just tell BIAB where the Realtracks etc are located in preferences. F

P.S. Another option if you really want to keep all on one drive is create partitions on that drive. Partition "A" for programs, Partition "B" for content (RT/RD). That way, if you need to reinstall programs / OS, you can format particular partition, not the whole drive.

DJL everybody has their own way of working but to me you're making things way too hard on yourself. First, why do you use a 4tb spinning HD as you're system drive? Pretty much the whole world uses SSD's now. The speed difference is astounding. I just got a 500 gig SSD for $140. Only actual applications goes on it, all data including RT/RD's stays external.
That aside if you have the Audiophile external drive you can do everything from that drive, no need to install anything except some fonts. Having an external drive is a problem with kids? Lock it in a drawer, it's one little USB cable. You should be able to figure that out. Seriously, you can't figure a way to do that and save yourself hours and hours of grief copying all that stuff onto your system drive?
