The song I love to hate!

Apologizes in advance...

This song keeps coming back to me at least once a year. It calls to me: "fix me...fix me!"

I then become like a deer in headlights and can't control myself. =D

I really dislike this song not because it's bad, I dislike it because I can't get it to sound the way I want!!! Ya'll know what I mean...RIGHT??? =D

OK, OK! give me a break! Just take a listen if you've got the time.

Thanks again,
Dave

Hey Dave, I really enjoyed the overall tone of this. Fantastic selection of instruments here and very soothing to hear. I can relate to not getting the sound, its all part of the fun!

Perhaps a helpful thought for songwriters...
Even if they frustrate you...
Accept your creations for what they are...
Humbly share them with love...
Let others decide whether they are ugly or beautiful or somewhere in-between.

Hi Joe!

How you? =D thanks for the kind comments. I agree with the tones also. This time (mix #28) it would seem that some nice spacing fell inline o give it a wider sound. But, you are 100% correct, it is all about the fun!

Thanks again,
Dave

Hi Dave,

I've learned that it is not the best idea to write that you not satisfied with a song you introduce to a new audience, because you get the people who listen to feel that they should be able to find some faults or bad things within the song, because the composer "said that himself".

I've posted songs that I was not satisfied with and got some positive critique and I have posted songs I liked a lot and have been told that they were lacking quality. You never know how the audience will react!

I tried to listen to your song without any negative pre-feelings and I actually really liked it. Your song reminded me of a young Terence Trent D'Arby... your track has the same kind of energy I felt when listening to his early songs.

I don't know what it is about the sound that you don't like - I think you have done a good job here!

Thanks for sharing,
Will

I had wondered if that was true with other types of artists -- meaning I had wondered if there was an inability to get what you have in your head or what you had envisioned successfully out of your head and make it manifest. For me, when I'm drawing, I will have a specific composition in mind but I rarely am able to put it to paper, but I always work harder to try and hone my skills so that one day I can go back to that idea and get it down and do the concept justice.

Thanks for sharing!

Well look here Willie! =D

Our songs are like our children. We're constantly trying to improve them. That's why I'm constantly (and other musicians) trying to improve our songs because we've invested so much of ourselves in them.

Besides, most of my songs I don't like but I write them anyway because they never turn out the way I imagined they would be from the concept.

Also, re-mix until you like it. With this song This is the closest I've been. With a few more tweaks, it will be just fine. Nevertheless in the words of Bonnie Raitt: "I can't make you love me, if you won't..."

This is (in my opinion a very good song), I'm just a perfectionist with no concept of perfection! =D

Terence Trent D'Arby? I love that guy!!!

Thanks for the input,

All the best,
Dave

Zup "E" =D

That's DEEP! As I was telling Will, This is the reason I like to do so many re-mixes because when you're putting the whole song together you really don't have the time to really listen to your creation. I like to wait a couple of days (like writing a piece) after a mix and give it a good listen. a week/ month later i' ll listen to it again because I know I'm going to hear something I missed, or a small mistake that need correcting or something. That's just the way it is!

Also, my first love was drawing until I swapped my No.2's for a guitar. Now I draw with sound! You know there's a bunch of people out there called professionals; only because they know how to get it right in one or two takes!

I always like to go back to my earlier creations and give them a fresh do over; only because my experience is more developed and I can do things now, that I couldn't do when I first produced the song. I think they call this Evolution?

Anywho, thanks for you comments,

All the best and give my regards to the team...
Dave
