I can't get my VST instruments to work in Band In A Box. I click the Plugins tab on the mixer, and assign a VST to slot 1 on the Melody track, but when I play back the track the melody is still playing on a midi instrument, not my VST instrument.
Is there something else I have to do?
When I click on the name of My VST in the track field to open the Plugins dialogue, I click on the keyboard of my VST instrument in the editor but no sound is produced from there either.
I too would love to be able to use a VST3i, Respiro, for example, for live use with a breath controller -ie Yamaha WX5. It has assignable cc2 and cc11 messages and can be used with the adaptive keys like roli seaboard.
I have BIAB audiophile omnipak on a 64bit quad-core windows10 and love it.
So what do I want? I want smooth non-glitchy CPU usage with the real tracks, and realistic breath controller interpretation through vst3i so that I can do more with these wonderful modern sound libraries like eastwest Quantum Leap Or Sample Tank.

The first insert of a Band-in-a-Box track is "reserved" for use by the Band-in-a-Box VST/DXi soft synth. (#1 in the screen shot) Try using insert 2, 3, or 4. (#2 in the screen shot)
Note: The screen shot was taken using 2019 Band-in-a-Box 64 bit. PG Music includes VST Synthfont64 for use with the 64 bit version of Band-in-a-Box.
I believe that is another valid reason to have a dedicated/discrete midi channel on mixer which I was bragging about in BIAB wish list.... So you can insert your dedicated VST and have it on distinct mixer channel, without performing abra cadabra...and still end up with limitations and weirdness
Does the .VST interface come up when you insert it in the plug in slot? There may be some parameters there like MIDI channel or audio device that needs to be set.
