Greetings Earthlings... I mean Forum Friends, ;-)

Many of you may have heard that the US is in the process of establishing a new branch of our Armed Forces called U.S. Space Force. My day job has brought me into the planning for Space Force.

As I often like to write about things that inspire me, I thought I'd take a try at writing the Service Song for this new branch of our military service. My intent was to write a March that could fit in thematically and sonically with the other Service Songs you are familiar with i.e. "The Army Goes Rolling Along", "Anchors Aweigh", "Wild Blue Yonder".

A military service for the space domain is inevitable, it's not political. The men and women of the new service, whatever it turns out to be, will need a Service Song. So here's my entry for consideration.

SoundClick.com Guarding the High Frontier

Production notes:
I've got about eight vocal tracks including one TC Helicon harmonized track.

Aside from the snare drum which is a dissected drum loop, all instrument tracks were generated thru midi. I used my CASIO Privia snyth patches as well as Coyote and SampleTank 2.5. It was a nightmare!!! I'll be contacting PGM support in a separate string.

Keep making music and make our world a better place

DC SpaceDog

Very unique and inspiring patriotic song. Reminds me of some of the old but very famous popular military songs. I hope yours also becomes popular and goes far.

Cool tune SD. This would be a great song for the Saturday morning serials I used to watch when I was kid. Well done. Brought a smile to my face..

PG Music, Here's the Soundcloud link for PGM radio:

Belladonna, Thanks. By your comment, it seems like I hit the mark.

Jim, Thanks for listening. DC SpaceDog is the stage name I use to separate business from pleasure. However, it was necessary to use my real name for this project.

Scott, I agree, I can envision a cool action cartoon following this as opening theme song.

Greg, Thanks. Writing the song was easy. Producing it was hard. I recorded about 10 midi instrument tracks and suffered a lot of technical issues. I'm glad the result is up to standards.

Theme song to a new cartoon show - One with a new version of Proton Energy Pills.
The kick in my left ear was odd.
Good fun.

Nicely done smile Definitely a strong tune, and a earworm for sure. I can definitely imagine this being an official anthem for something like that.

Thanks for sharing!

Hey there SpaceDog, This is quirky! Really enjoyed the movement of the overall piece. Good use of harmonies with the vocals too. Thanks for sharing!

Hey Spacedog....

I like this effort and can tell this was no easy one to finish up.
Lots going on and I think you did a damn fine job.
Especially with regard to adhering to what some of the other branches sound like which were penned long ago.

There's a truly authentic feel to this write and your original take on this just works.

Well done...back to it.

I agree. It is right in character with the other service songs. Nicely done. Can't say I've ever encountered a more unique reason to write a piece. Best wishes.

Hi,

It's easy to hear that you've put a heap of work into creating this one. It must have taken ages to arrange and assemble (and that's not counting the writing time!).

All the best with the entry. You've done a great job.

...you've got me thinking, too... I wonder what the Australian equivalent might sound like? Hmm...

All the best,
Noel

Very cool! I've been a space junkie since sputnik.

I gotta suggest though that if anybody showed up on that frontier I don't think we'd do much guarding smile

Well done and obviously the product of a lot of work!

RayC, Thanks. I hear what you mean about the Bass Drum wide left. I was trying to picture a band on stage where the big drums are always stage left. However, it is a bit distracting. I'll center it in the next version.

Deryk, I love it when a melody sticks in your head. Thanks for your comment. Cheers!

Joe, Yep, I write a lot of quirky stuff but I'm Okay with that. Glad you liked it.

Chulaivet66,
Thanks so much for your comments. I work in many genres and strive to be true and authentic to the style.

It was a tough one. Between system glitches with Midi and sample rates and a chronic allergy cough, I almost quit this project

Tangmo, I don't have much time for writing and recording, so the purpose of each project really matters to me. Hang around this forum long enough and you'll hear the most unique and interesting songs. This PGM community attracts very talented people.

Noel,

It took a couple of weeks to write and over a month in the studio to produce. Then I was delayed a week because of the cough I still have.

I suppose an Aussie version would have to include didgeridoos. What a cool ethereal sound

J&B, Thanks. Well if the bad guys come from out yonder, I guess we're all toast.

Thanks for listening Forum Friends.

Wow, I didn't know about this! I thought it was satire at first. It would be amazing if you won. Good luck, it sounds very good and might just make it!
