Is there a way to have one instrument/track play against only one chord while having the other instruments/tracks play through the specified changes?

Create your first chord progression, generate the arrangement, then freeze the instrument. Change your chord progression, regenerate the arrangement (the frozen track will stay the same), then freeze the next instrument. Wash, rinse, repeat until done.

You can also have different instruments pause and hold while others continue to play. In addition you can easily have them play a chord, while playing a bass note that is not root to the chord. This is a function of the program now.
If you can imagine it.... BB probably already does it, or if you think for a few minutes, you can figure out how to make it do what you want. The only limit is your ability to imagine it.

Thanks for the tip, I will add that to the list of compositional work tricks. I am studying videos and material to help with workflow as I dive into this amazing software.
The RealTracks are great and generally play very close to what I have in mind. I have been trying to figure out how to tweak them in certain instances. For example, I have a song I am writing where the bass occasionally plays the root one octave too high. I suppose I can rearrange the audio once rendered or maybe I will explore the MIDI SuperTracks for more flexibility. Any tips or suggestions on streamlining the tweaking of notes and passages in RealTracks for a bass part, or any instrument for that matter?
For the bass part I plan on trying the following:
1. Capture several takes and splice and edit rendered audio using DAW or suggested tool.
2. Use a Midi SuperTrack in conjunction with RealTrack and superimpose accordingly.
3. Try the soloist for some variety particularly on leading notes etc. and then superimpose accordingly.

For the more advanced things you're talking about check out Real Band. You mentioned using a DAW, RB is a 48 track DAW that can open Biab files, use all the styles, all the RT/RD's, generate one track at a time allowing you to make several comp tracks of each instrument then cut/paste them to make one final track.
