I have BB 2016. I like to edit midi using notation. Used to be I could click on a note and as I moved it, I could hear the tones or drums as I moved the note up or down. Now I have silence when I do that. It makes it difficult to edit drums.
Anyone know how to fix this? Thanks.

Check that the Piano and the Thru track are not muted and the volume is not low.
If they are not, then we need more info. What are you using for MIDI sound?

The piano, drums and thru are not muted. Volume is up. Based on my preferences, I have GM and Coyote set up.

Is DXi checked in Preferences, MIDI Driver?

Check also if the audio driver is "Output Always On" or "ASIO Always On" not sure if it needs to be but worth a try.

I am familiar with that setting on RB but I can't find it on BB.

2016 may not have an option for MME but ASIO should have it.

This has been resolved with a call to PG TA. They just had me go back and re-click my settings.

Matt,
Re-click means clicking on settings that I had never changed. It was as if the program had just forgotten them. Here are the specifics:
Midi/audio driver setup
Midi output driver is set to GS Wavetable
Use VST/DXI synth was checked already
Route midi thru to midi driver was checked already
VST/DXI synth settings were set for Coyote WT
Click on Audio Settings
Click on Audio Drivers
Speakers were highlighted for Audio Output Driver
Click OK
Click OK
Click OK
And then I had sound on the Notation Editor.
Again, these were the settings before I started having the problem. I don't think they should change but maybe I don't understand all the things that can happen.

Did you at some point do a Return to Factory Settings?

I'm curious as to why that would be necessary since I had never changed these particular settings, but I really don't have to know. As long as I can get it working again without too much trouble.

What I meant was, if you had done a Return to Factory Settings, then it would make sense to re-click on those settings that you consider to be your default values. That could be the cause of them not working the way you expected.

No, I didn't reset to factory. So it doesn't make sense to me either.
