Either I've morphed into a teenager (2nd childhood perhaps) or something strange is going on. I had a casual listen to this compilation on Youtube, and had 9 or 10 songs I could see myself learning and singing albeit in other keys and with more acoustic arrangements. This is normally unheard of.... Comments folks. Have I lost my mind? I need to break free from my taste in covering 50s, 60s and 70s songs. Put the Blues to bed and set out on sample etc musical adventures.

I'm on school holidays now, leaving Hong Kong for France, Italy and Spain armed with my Tascam mini 8 track and BIAB 2019 newly loaded on a notebook. Fingers crossed I get some writing done.

There is plenty of great music being produced these days but so many people (especially those who are not producing great music) love to dismiss today's music and pine for the "Good Old Days"! Glad to hear you are enjoying new music!

You liked a higher percentage than me; I'm at about 20%, but that's no different than when I was a teen! One thing that's clear is that lyrical phrasing definitely has a 'sound' for this year, as well as vocal affect. It actually sounds pretty difficult to pull off. I don't care for the sound of it, but I can appreciate the skill needed to make it happen.

I also heard 120 bpm and the vicinity still rules pop music!

Some reggaeton beats were prominent in unexpected places.

This mix of songs was not to my particular taste, but I can see where people could appreciate it. Never really been much of a Top 40s fan myself though, so that may be why!

Cheers,
