Hey, that's a real find right there. I've used the free non-pro version for many years. The multi-outs will be really cool for drum kits.

Thanks for posting this Mike.

Wow, that's cool!

One thing to note, though, it does not play SFZ, despite its name. I think the freebie (at least the one with Sonar) does play them. But, hey, there are a lot of great soundfonts out there so that should be a nice addition!

This reminds me of another former payware, now freebie that I found and forgot to mention. It's an amp sim and it's not half bad, although the interface is a little busy: http://www.greenmachine.pwuq.net/Wurr_Audio_Engineering/Home.html

Does the SFZ interact with BIAB, PT, &Real Band. In other words, can SFZ be used with these programs & is there any point in doing so?.....Hank

I don't know, but regular SFZ works great for that. That's actually what I use for BIAB.

BTW, I just noticed that the Audio FX packs 1-3 are free too!

Just got it and am listening to it now through BIAB. Sounds good! You have to set up each channel the first time to read the soundfont or soundfont set. Once you do that, you're all set! I think this will be my BIAB sound module for now.

Someone wrote above that sfz+ doesn't support sfz files - not sure that's true necessarily.

sfz files are essentially a listing of existing .wav files as they are associated with velocity levels and and keys. sfz+ offers drag/drop support for .wav files. My guess is they work nicely together. Have yet to give it a try.

While you are correct about what sfz files are, SFZ+ does not load sfz files. It is only a wav and soundfont player. Check out this thread at KVR: http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=270405

The point is that sfz files require the accompanying .wav files. They aren't any good by themselves.

I've used the non+ version for years with .sf2 files which are self-contained, so this won't be an issue for me. I don't even have any .sfz files since they are pretty cumbersome because they require the many .wav files that go with the pointer .sfz file.

I'm guessing most people that have been using sfz, the non+ version, have mostly soundfont files. sfz+ will allow them to create their own sample sets.

I look forward to the multi-outs for the very nice nskit drumkits from long ago. sfz only allowed stereo outs, now dynamics processing on multi-outs - nice!

Yeah, sfz is actually just a text file that links all of the .wav files. I've never quite figured out what the big deal is about them, since the end result is like other sample formats. I made a few of them from samples that I had to try it out and they worked ok in the sfz free version. But to maximize its potential, you really have to know what you're doing. Soundfonts work fine for me.
