A function I could really use over and over again:
The ability of the SongPicker to allow you to easily move song files to other subfolders, delete them, rename them, edit song titles.
I have collected some 10.000 song files and can only use the Windows Explorer to move them to other directories or rename them, which is very tricky with the sometimes very cryptic file names of older 8-letters file names and I have to run a new indexing in Band in a Box after each change.
It would be great if you could right-click on a song in the song picker and get a menu to edit the relevant information or move the song to a subdirectory or even delete the song. A new indexing would be omitted, the entities in the database could be changed immediately by clicking OK.

There used to be a nifty tool called BBFinder by the independent developer Stefano Lazzaretto. It provided quite a few features that put it way above the current SongPicker. Its size was a mere 885 kB, it was lightning fast and had the ability to span over a variety of drives and folders, not just subfolders.

Unfortunately, it appears to be discontinued and incompatible with Windows 10.

I've still got a copy of BBFinder on one of my application archive disks; hmmm, not sure if it would work today (don't recall if it's 16-bit or 32-bit). I'll have to pull it out and give it a try again (been a long time since I've used it).

So, I pulled out BBFinder, along with BIAB Song Librarian and BIAB Style Librarian, three third party utilities that helped manage both songs and styles back in the day. Unfortunately, they are all 16-bit applications and will not run on a 64-bit operating system. The best you could do with a utility like that is to run it in a Virtual Machine (under probably 32-bit Windows XP), but that seems like a lot of work (although I have it loaded in one of my XP VM's, but I'm geeky that way).

I am not aware of any other 3rd party utility that does a similar thing.

+1

I have always wanted this ability to manage the files from within the SongPicker. To this day I still find myself looking for a way to delete or rename a file before remembering that I have to go into Explorer and then back to Songpicker to regenerate the list.

+1. SongPicker seems to be a logical place to have a file manager.
