I bought a used BIAB 2008.5 to see if I would like BIAB (and I do). So when I get the money up I'll buy the latest. A buddy of mine who is a casual player bought a version of 2018 on Ebay for around $14, (I'll wait a few seconds for everyone on the forum to gasp) cause he really liked what I had been able to do in the short time I have had the 2008.5 version.
So, it was a download as a .rar folder. When extracted, it was a folder with a short cut for BIAB and a shortcut for Real Band and a readme text file, which said not to change and file names or folder names. There was nothing else, no files no folders. So the Real Band does not work, it only plays drum tracks. The styles in BIAB that use the Real Tracks don't work when previewing them, only plays drums. Is there any way to set this piece of s%%t he bought just to play all the styles as midi, so he can hear them.
And yes, if he had told me he was going to do this, I would have told him not to do it.

For BIAB to work after 30 days, it needs to registered with PG Music. Time will tell whether your buddy bought a legitimate version or was ripped off. Fortunately, it's only $14 if the latter is true.
The MIDI styles are all present in Stylepicker and he can set filters under the "Type" button (in Stylepicker) so that only the MIDI styles will show up.

Yeah he is, Deb. I only wish he had spoken to me. He's really a great guy and is having fun with it. Like Noel said, at least it's only 14$

Though you probably don't have the money now, a new ready to install version is on sale right now. I found it worth the money. The Pro package would get you started: Band in a Box packages ...Deb

PG Music also has a 4 or 5 payment program. It's in the announcement section. The only time they put it on sale is when they come out with a new version so it's really only on sale Dec to February, maybe shorter. But that is why it took me 5 years to upgrade, because I didn't know about the 5 payment program, which they have made it public this year. So while I bought it. I probably would have upgraded sooner had i known about that.

Ctrl E is where the magic lies. But get a legit version. It's worth buying it during sales. There is a midi only checkbox and it's for the 77 midi style tracks. But real track sound much better. They are kept to the style of the player they are trying to mimic.
