Hello and happy New Year. I'm using a Hank fingerpicking style and am trying to start each beat with the bass note of whatever chord I'm using, something like a walking bass. I've gone into the Chordbuilder but no luck there. Any ideas? Thanks.

Have you tried slash chords. If you input the following on the four beats of a measure you will get a walking bass, CMaj7/C, CMaj7/B, CMaj7/A, and CMaj7/G you will get four beats of Cmaj7 with the bass walking C,B,A, and then G. Of course you do not need to add four chords as you can have a C/C for 4 beats followed by a Dm7/D for 4 beats and get the tonic note in the bass.

Good luck and I hope this helps.

OK, a random thought;

Hello Mario, thanks for your help. I tried that, typing in the chords individually and also using the chord builder, and re-generating, but I still can't hear any bass notes at the start of each beat.

Paddy,
Exactly which style are you using? It may be that which is inhibiting the bass?

Hello Dan. I'm using a fingerpicking guitar style CMPFMHF. After reading your response, I haven't had time just now to time to try a different style, but I can see there may be something in what you say, as the fingerstyle picks it own notes. I will try something like a strum style. Thanks.

CMPFMHF - Memo: This acoustic guitar is fingerpicked in the 'Hank' vein. T=100-210
_CMPFMHF.STY. Campfire, Hank Medium Fingerpick
All RealTracks. Solo. Tempo=120 (100-210)
Instruments: Ac.Guitar RT528: Guitar, Acoustic, Fingerpicking Hank Sw 120 , Jason Roller

This style has only one RT, and it ain't a bass! Just add a RT Bass to carry the low end.

Thanks Dan, that did the trick and of course makes a huge difference. Also gives me more stuff to discover and play with.
