After installing my BiaB UltraPAK 2020 upgrade, I started BiaB to check out some of the new styles and RealTracks that came with the upgrade. But for some reason, most of the long file names in the Style Picker list begin with "[RT n/a]", which tells me that BiaB isn't seeing all of the new RealTracks that came with my UltraPAK upgrade. So, perhaps I didn't do something right during the installation process.

After I copied the entire contents of the USB portable HDD to a 250 GB partition on my internal HDD (which is my second disk drive), I ran setup.exe and selected the first option so that I could run BiaB from that partition and only install a minimum number of files on my C drive. Was this procedure correct or should I have done it differently so that BiaB could see all of the RealTracks?

Hi again,

That happened to me, too. Try running the program installation file again (not all the Realtrack installation files).

If you don't have it, you should be able to get just the program installation from "My Products" in your Sales Account. The file is called...

Band-in-a-Box and RealBand 2019 Full (Windows).exe -- [1.95 GB]

After re-installing the above file and then starting BIAB and rebuilding Stylepicker, all was well.

Regards,
Noel

Thanks, Noel. You must be referring to the file listed as "Band-in-a-Box and RealBand 2020 Full (Windows)". However, the actual filename is "bandinabox_realband_2020_full.exe", which is 1.4 GB. Unfortunately, after going through those steps, nothing has changed. I wonder if this is happening because the installation program only sees the RealTracks I have installed on my C drive from BiaB 2019 and is ignoring the RealTracks on my K drive.

It could be that BIAB is pointing to c:\bb

Things that I would do to solve the problem...

1. check that you shortcuts are pointing to K:\bb (i.e. right-click on the shortcut and select "Properties".) It might be that BIAB is running using C:\bb as the folder.

2. rename C:\bb to C:\bb.2019 -- this will stop BIAB 2020 seeing it if that's the problem.

3. When BIAB is running, check "Options | Preferences | Realtracks" and see what path is present for the Realtracks. That should be empty. You could try putting in K:\bb\Realtracks but it will probably not stick since having this blank automatically means "default directory" -- which is K:\bb

4. Have a look at Realtrack "Options | Preferences | Realdrums". Again the path should be blank (which is default - as above). You could try adding K:\bb\Drums although it probably won't stick

Hopefully this will help.

Regards,
Noel

Yes, this should be fine. As Noel said it's either that the StylePicker needs a rebuild, or Band-in-a-Box is not looking in the correct location for the RealTracks folder (check Options - Preferences - RealTracks). It sounds like the folder is not a custom location in your case, so just make sure the "custom.." checkbox is unchecked. Same for the RealDrums.

Yep, that was the problem. I unchecked both boxes and rebuilt the Styles list. Now I don't see any more [RT n/a] entries. Thanks a lot!

Thanks, Andrew, for chiming in. That was the problem. Both the RealDrums and the RealTracks were pointing to c:\bb as the custom location. But it's all fixed now. smile
