Here's a gypsy jazz tune, Gypsy Serenade.
https://soundcloud.com/ray_legnini/gypsy-serenade

I created an acoustic gypsy jazz band with acoustic bass, melody & rhythm guitars, fiddle, and accordion. Recorded in the Studio One DAW. The song contains the sometimes mysterious minor 6th chord.

There are doubled acoustic guitar parts for the rhythm section that I played on a Martin acoustic, and then two more rhythm guitar parts at a lower volume to fill out the section. One (on the left side) is the BIAB part from 1209:Guitar, and the other is my nylon string guitar.

I used two fiddle RealTracks to make one part by comping together the parts I liked from the BIAB parts. A bit of EQ helped make the fiddles sound like they were the same player and instrument.

The accordion parts were created by extracting notes from the fiddle and/or guitar parts using Melodyne software and then assigning the notes to the accordion sound in Studio One.

Style is _GJBALFS.STY

RealTracks in style: ~1204:Bass, Acoustic, GypsyJazzBallad Sw 110
RealTracks in style: ~1209:Guitar, Acoustic, Rhythm GypsyJazzBalladGonzalo Sw 110
RealTracks in style: 1207:Fiddle, Soloist GypsyJazzBallad Sw 110
RealTracks in song: ~1111:Fiddle, Background CountrySwing Sw 085

This is really special, although admittedly you had me at gypsy. On the performance end, really nice articulation of notes on the guitar. Love the harmonics at the beginning. Also liked how you weaved (wove?) the melody around the RT violin.

The recording quality is really nice as well. I have a hard time recording acoustic guitar. You obviously do not.

The song overall has a nice flow to it. Not hard to tell who influenced you on this. That being said, though, your nuanced play, while Django-esque,cuts its own path, especially your note articulation.

Excellent.

Very nice produced, composed and played. I really like this style of music... back in the days I got a lot of inspiration from listen to Django records. I even tried to emulate his playing with two fingers... was not really successful in doing that smile

So happy you shared this song with us... was a threat to listen to!

Thanks,
Will

You've added excellent stuff on the BIAB bed.
On occasion I felt it'd've been nice to cut back to the simple lines of the melody without the runs and embellishments - but that's jazz.

Really well executed - nice and gentle on the ears, and flows gorgeously. It sounds really lush, and the mix is seamless. Every aspect of the song works great with the other elements.

Thanks for sharing smile

Hi Ray,

this is simply outstanding and most impressive. Great composition, fantastic arrangement, gorgeous playing.

The technique you used to turn fiddle notes into accordeon notes was - to say the least - 'new' to me, great idea and supervly done.

Great piece of music - VERY enjoyable!

Take care,

Stefan

This is one of those songs that just slips right under your arm and says, "Come along with me" and seems to speak to you about long walks and pleasant summer breezes and dappling sunlight shining through the trees. Excuse me - I was carried away there smile. What's really great about it is how everything just blends together so well, and the little flourishes and interplay of the instruments just whisper to you and you just get lost in the song. Very well done, and thank you for that lovely experience.

That was a real treat!

Great playing, lovely sound, good song, excellent mix.

I love it when a song takes me on journey - for me, a late night stroll down a street in Paris.

Thanks for posting, I enjoyed the trip! laugh
