Another authentic sounding old-time hymn, ed.
Good presentation.
Some of the new (2020) Gospel Vocal RealTracks would work well with this...

Thanks, Floyd. And thanks for the tip. I've had 2020 for less than a month. Already seeing improvement in the sound quality. I'll bring up the 2020 Gospel Real Tracks next time I have it open.

Thanks, Torrey, Jim, FMM and Dave. This musical passion has turned me into something of a music history buff, specializing in Hymns of the 2nd Great Awakening, conveniently PD. This one, Charles Albert Tindley's "We'll Understand it Better By and By," came a little later, 1920, but qualifies in my mind. Born in 1851, he was active as early as 1870. It is joined by Thomas A Dorsey's "Precious Lord" and the unattributed "Closer Walk with Thee" as three powerful contributions from the African American Church. Dorsey (1883-1989,) is associated with Chicago, Tindley with Philadelphia. Negro Spirituals, as called, were transformed into that easy- on-the-ears back beat swing we associate with The Preservation Hall Jazz Band -- New Orleans jazz. Now, in various forms, it is everywhere

This is a good arrangement Ed. Personally I'd slide the melody guitar about 30% to the side and pull it back a little bit too as it's competing with your voice and the tickets are bought to hear you sing!

Thanks, Ray, for the valuable info. I could hear something wrong with the clarity but couldn't pin it down; your insight will go a long way to helping fix. I'm settling on a workflow that involves three elements -- backing track, voice, and guitar. I have been treating the vocal and guitar tracks as unrelated. Thanks, Janice and Bud. Hey, if your site were not on my surf rotation, I might not have seen "The Right Track." Quite a movie you and Floyd put together, there. Congrats.

Quite the appropriate instrumentation--makes it feel period authentic.
I enjoyed listening to this. I always enjoy tuneful hymns.

Hi Ed,
This sounds good. It's very pleasant to listen to and there's a polish to the sound that makes this very ear-friendly music.
I enjoyed listening. Thank you.

I absolutely love this. There's something so authentic and, at the same time, heartbreaking about the way you sing ... wow. Reminds me of Johnny Cash when he sings spirituals. This is really phenomenal. Well done.

Your voice is great for this kind of music, a slight quaver, slightly talky, it just rings of the real thing. Very nicely done!
