If I create an arrangement in BIAB and send it to GarageBand for fine tuning, how do I send the song BACK to BIAB so I can play along with the chords to the song? Is this possible or do I have to memorize the chord changes to play along on keyboard or other instrument?
Thanks for the help.

I guess this depends on what changes you made and to what tracks. You can think of a Band-in-a-Box song file (.MGU) as the chords, melody and style. Band-in-a-Box generates the Bass, Piano, Drums, Guitar, and Strings tracks based on the chords you have and the style or (RealTracks instrument etc.) that you have selected. You can't save a GarageBand project as a Band-in-a-Box song file.
However, you can import standard MIDI or audio files (AIFF, WAV, M4A etc.) into Band-in-a-Box. In GarageBand you can save your song as an m4a file by going to the Share menu | Export to disk. You can then import this audio file back into your original Band-in-a-Box song file by going to the Audio menu | Import Audio. The file will be on the Audio track, and you could Solo the audio track and play your song while watching the chordsheet. You could freeze or disable the other tracks to make song generation faster. On a technical note, the audio track in Band-in-a-Box is simply a wave file with the same name as the Band-in-a-Box song file. For example, if you save your file as MySong.MGU, you'll find a MySong.WAV in the same folder as your song.
That is one idea to explore anyways...

Along with what Andrew says, you have a lot more flexibility by upgrading to Logic Pro X (GB is a subset of LPX). This adds the ability to work with the plugin and MusicXML import/export and will also open all your GB files. Yea, it's $200 but has been a long time and upgrades have been no charge for years. If you buy through the Education store, the same money includes FinalCut ProX and 3 other apps. https://www.apple.com/us-hed/shop/product/BMGE2Z/A/pro-apps-bundle-for-educationYou pay the $ and Apple emails you 5 product codes. Enter those codes one at a time while logged into the App Store and the apps download already registered to you. Unused codes can be emailed to others.

Mike, Thanks for the suggestions. The reason I decided to stick with GarageBand, at least at first, is because all of this is novel to me. In the past I have created arrangements on BIAB and then used them on the Macbook for performance, played through my Bose soundmatch/column speakers.
Now, I want better arrangements; hence using GarageBand. I want to feel comfortable with it before moving up to Logic. My impression is it's a steep learning curve for both 2019 BIAB and current GarageBand, but I've done a couple of decent arrangements already.
I play a Roland-700 SX keyboard, in addition to trumpet and flugel horn. -- With the Realtracks, I hope to play live on horns with some BIAB arrangements, as well as continuing to play keys as before. My trio of 20+ years recently disbanded with the retirement from performance of our great drummer/horn player. The bassist, violinist, guitar, banjo player wanted to play in a guitar band with his twenty-something son.
So, I may be playing more solo gigs here in central Iowa in the future. Have played in bands since age 16, including small groups, municipal concert band, big bands, etc. At 70+ I'm still active, ride bike 100 miles per month, play golf, and still work as a psychologist. Probably more info than wanted, but now you know the background.
I'm more than willing to learn from others in the arena. Any more tips are always appreciated. Thanks.
Bill
