Hi all,
Whenever I open a session of BIAB I get a yellow box message telling me that the complex chords (9th 13th etc) have been ( I can't remember the exact wording and it disappears from the screen quite quickly) amended.

However recently, for my first song I opened a very basic song with only C,F & G7 chards (yes country smile )and I still got the "complex chords" message.

Is this happening to anyone else?

Hi Keith,

Yes... from time to time it happens to me in a similar way.

Hi Noel,
I hope you're keeping fit & healthy.
I'm curious as to why I get the message on a simple chord progression …. or is it just a standard pop up when you open the program? Perhaps someone from PGM may respond?

Hi Keith
This is the classic confusing message for me too.
Some people seem to understand that it is OK, but I'm still beat.
Try this:
Create a new song, 32 bars, key of C. One C Chord on the first bar, and generate.
This is what I get:

If it’s important that you hear the exact chords you wrote, turn off Natural Arrangement and ignore the cautions. And in the extreme, use MIDI for your chordal instruments.

Hi all
I wonder if this message relates to the complex chords that will arise from using your chosen style (as recorded in the realtrack variations) some styles more so than others.
And not the chord progression you have entered on the chord sheet.
Just a thought.
Mike

Keith, FYI.... Check this file to read those pop-up messages: C:\bb\Data\Logs\FlashMessageLog.txt. You can open in Notepad.

The most recent message will be on top of the file.

Yes, I get that annoying message also! It goes on to say that the message is delivered once per session. The problem is that I do not want my chords simplified in any way for any tunes. I can't find a preference where you can ensure that chords are played as written, and perhaps blocks of that message function entirely.

This might help.

If you go into the BIAB Preferences settings, under "Arrange"...in the lower left corner of "Arrange", you'll find the controls for this. It can either be set to never reinterpret chords, sometimes or only just for jazz songs. You can also set whether this message pops up at all.

Using this same screen, you can set natural arrangement settings individually, by song, by selecting the Song Settings tab in the upper center of each song screen, right across from the song title.

In use, I really haven't noticed a whole lot of change except in one situation. If I have a RealTrack solo in a song, and turn on Natural Arrangement for that song, it seems to create a better solo passage than if I don't use it.

Keep in mind, from my experience, to use Natural Arrangement, you have to engage it, unfreeze all tracks and then regenerate the whole song again...but it does seem to work.

YMMV

Jeff

Thanks guys, I appreciate your input and thank you for the tips.
It's no big annoyance, I was just curious.

Thanks Jeff, your reference solved the problem and one can even get rid of the message entirely.
