My favorite things that make for a smoooth workflow in the DAW are:
1) Acidize files (MIDI and now Audio remain in sync with tempo mapped songs)
2) Working RC for RD MIDI drum for multitrack drums via your favorite plugins.
3) RIff workflow enhancement (context based selection and bar level generate)
4) Solo and mute now work on the fly
5) Global sync make it easy to switch back and forth between audition and silent (show playing chords)

As I said a combination of many small fixes made the plugin FUN and comfortable to work with. smile

Yes it is much more useable right now. Actually a pleasure to use. I did a mock up project for a friend over the weekend and was done in less than an hour.

Of course, we all know there are bugs in the software, and I encourage people to report them in the forum especially if they are repeatable of confirmable. This is the best way to make the software more reliable on a large base of customers.
General comments like "it is broke" or "I will wait until it is perfect" don't help PGMusic or the customer base.

They use your specific input to improve the reliability and functionality of it. Here are examples of input to PGMusic that was turned around and implemented.

Significant functionality improvements in DAW Plugin build 2.12.9

  • Show Bar Change Settings for bar changes (red line in Part Marker) Matches BiaB now and make it easy to see where they are at if added in BiaB or the plugin.
  • Render of the selected region: Now you can generate on just the bars you need for additional style tracks or Extra tracks and Riff tracks (It saves time when augmenting other style tracks in your DAW song.)
  • "Pad Multi Riffs" and "Start Multi Riffs early/late" Now works so you can generate Riffs for specific bars in your DAW song.
  • (Shift) Drag Chords from Plugin Chord sheet to DAW as Markers.
  • Direct Input RTs Now Work! I almost forgot one of the biggies. Now you can drag guitar part in and assign your own virtual amp and have complete control over the sound.

Here is the universal standard for reporting errors:
Problem:
Steps to reproduce:
Expected behavior:
Actual behavior:

I use it all the time and PGmusic responds usually in the next release.

It's ready for prime time and I'm ready for the loony bin crazy

That's all I wanted to do was make music, I was doing that for lots of artist but it's a bit hard when you are sitting down with them and there is crash...crash..48 crash. And there was no VST Sync at the time for EZDrummer to create the drums how they like (and that took 10 years of nagging).
So I gave up doing that and went full time trying (nagging) to make things better for Biab RealBand and create a Plugin.

So hopefully when I have recovered from it all and got my mojo back I'll get back into it, have a pleasurable creative workflow and be able stay in the zone, as the worst thing to get you out of the creative zone is FRUSTRATION !!! (and PG are past masters at that mad )

I just created a 80 bar 4:30 song with it today. Purely from the plugin.
16 RT tracks generated from the plugin. 2 RC RD track for multitrack drums with a drum plugin.
2 RT tracks generated with DI inputs to add my own Amp Simulators. Partial generated tracks for augmenting the chorus and bridge. Partial generated Riffs for comping a nice Intro. Changing styles and chord shots and holds. 70% of the tracks were customer selected so I ended up with the right style and feel. It was Tempo Mapped in the DAW to me performing along with a guitar, so the song follows my performance. I then add vocals and it is done.
Like all software it has a few minor problems that have been formally reported to PGMusic, but there were easy workarounds to get it done. So, IMHO it is working good enough to write music.

That’s a nice report. I’m hoping that this brings one last update this year to address a couple small bugs.

Then for version 3.0 I vote for ARA2 to sync the DAW and plugin allowing simultaneous chord/bar markers/and timing to be transferred both ways. If it had that it would be what most of us envisioned.

Just to keep the record straight. I am not aware of anyone asking for this? Not that it is not nice to have, but it only goes half way with achieving what is needed to accomplish what BIAB can do with its "chords Out" feature. There is no midi associated with the chords markers. We have been asking for both the chord markers AND the associated block chord midi similar to what the "chordout" feature does. Just sayin...

I asked for the midi chord track with markers but as you say with the midi notes.
Adar added this as it's all done within the Plugin without having to wait for PG to implement it in BBW4.
I have been asking for midi chord markers in Biab in the BB Cord Output track for decades and it was not done, so ask yourself.

Pipe, on this topic I am in full alignment with where you are driving. I am afraid that sometimes it seems us users are talking only to each other! But, having said that, I am pleased with the new chord markers feature. In this case I just wanted to push to finish the job. I know, Rob it about to jump on me. grin I get it Rob, lets first get this damn thing stable. So I can be patient and wait, just don't want this to be forgotten.

This is from another post:

Well there are 2 ways you can do it
1. wait for PG to get around to to adding chord markers to the BB Chord Output track (that's been asked for ages) in BBW4 and enable it to take the function call from the Plugin.
2. Create it all in the Plugin as suggested in the first post, or you could have a Chords.txt that the Plugin uses to create the midi chords, this way the user can set any voicing they like for any chords. So it will be all done in the Plugin without waiting for PG to do it.

This is an example from Ackord Midi Chord Detector, being in notes than numbers it's more user friendly.
Code:
; This is the chord definition file.
; Here you make up which key combinations make up which chord.
; Do it for key C, and the program will automatically transpose
; it to all other keys.
; If a / (division sign) is after the note name, that means it is okay to
; have this note in the base - e g C/G. If not, it will be an
; unrecognized chord - unless another row later has this combination.

; Every line not beginning with "C" will be ignored by the program.
; Separate notes with , (comma). No spaces between notes.
; Valid notenames: C, C#, Db, D, D#, Eb, E, F, F#, Gb, G, G#, Ab, A, A#, Bb, B

I’m not going to jump on you cause while we need it stable we also want it useable. I think PGM is on the same page on some of this. I expect to see some cool stuff next year. This year I am guessing we will just fixes for now.

Just again for the record... I think we have seen more progress in features, functions and operation in the past 3 months than we have seen in the prior 15 months. So I am hoping they keep at it while they are on a roll. Keep the betas coming with new features and performance.

But here is an idea, release the betas with a time limit expiration. Say 30 days. Then when Version 3 comes along in December there will be some much enhancement in features and performance we will be getting in line to pay up...

202 New RealTracks Released with Band-in-a-Box 2026!

With Band-in-a-Box® 2026, we've released 202 incredible new RealTracks (in sets 468-488) in a variety of genres—featuring your most requested styles!

Jazz, Funk & World (Sets 468-475):
Our new jazz, funk & blues RealTracks include a groovin’ collection of RealTracks and RealDrums! These include more requested “soul jazz” RealTracks featuring artists Neil Swainson (bass), Charles Treadway (organ), Brent Mason (guitar), and Wes Little (drums). There are new “smooth jazz” styles (4), which include a RealTracks first: muted trumpet, as well as slick new smooth jazz brushes options for drums. Blues lovers will be thrilled—there are more “classic acoustic blues” styles, including guitar (5), bass (4), and drums (10) with blues master Colin Linden, featuring understated and tasty background acoustic soloing, plus brushes drums and acoustic bass. There are also new electric blues RealTracks, including electric blues with PG favorite Johnny Hiland (3) and soulful electric slide guitar from Colin Linden (4). If you love funk & gospel, there are great new options this year, including gospel organ (3) from Charles Treadway, as well as new funk, tango, and rock ’n’ roll drums (3) and bass (1). And for big, bold arrangements, we have uptempo soul horns (4) featuring a three-part hip horn section with options for a full mix or stems of each individual horn — plus an accompanying rhythm section (4) of drums, bass, guitar, and electric piano!

Rock & Pop (Sets 476–482):
Our new rock & pop RealTracks bring a powerful mix of requested favorites, fresh genres, and modern chart-inspired styles! We have more of our popular “Producer Layered Acoustic Guitars (15)” featuring Band-in-a-Box favorite Brent Mason. We’ve continued our much-requested disco styles (10), and added new Celtic guitar (5) with a more basic, accessible approach than our previous Drop-D or DADGAD offerings. There are also highly requested yacht rock styles (17), inspired by the smooth, polished soft-rock sound of the late ’70s and early ’80s — laid-back grooves, silky electric pianos, warm textures, elegant harmonic movement, and pristine production aesthetics. Fans of heavier styles will love our new glam metal (13), capturing the flashy, high-energy sound of ’80s arena-ready guitar rock. We also have a set of rootsy modern-folk rock (18), with a warm, organic sound combining contemporary folk textures and driving acoustic strumming. And we’ve added lots of new modern pop styles (16) — the kinds of sounds you’re hearing on the radio today, featuring exciting new drums, synths, and cutting-edge RealTracks arrangements.

Country, & Americana (Sets 483–488):
Our new country & Americana RealTracks deliver a rich collection of acoustic, electric, and roots-inspired styles! We have new country pop (9) with legendary guitarist Brent Mason. There is also a potpourri (14) of bouzouki, guitars, banjo, and more, perfect for adding texture and character to contemporary acoustic arrangements. We’ve added funky country guitar (5) with PG favorite Brent Mason, along with classic pedal steel styles (5) featuring steel great Doug Jernigan. There are more country songwriter styles (8) that provide intimate, rootsy foundations for storytelling and modern Americana writing. Finally, we have “background soloing” acoustic guitar (12) with Brent Mason — simpler, but still very tasty acoustic lines designed to sit beautifully behind vocals or act as a subtle standalone solo part.

You'll get new country-rhythm guitar styles from PG Music favorites Johnny Hiland and Brent Mason, along with modern-pop grooves that capture today’s radio-ready sound! There are also new indie-folk styles with guitar, bass, 6-string bass used as a high-chording instrument, acoustic guitar, and banjo.
