I wrote a song in BIAB using a style that had midi tracks. They seemed to play in BIAB, although they were a yellow color on the track view. When I transferred to Mixcraft these tracks came over but with no sound or data. Anyone know why? Thanks.
Could you provide a description of the exact method you used to transfer them to Mixcraft? That will possibly give a clue to what might have occurred.
BIAB & RB2026 Win.(Audiophile), Windows 10 Pro & Windows 11, Cakewalk Bandlab, Izotope Prod.Bundle, Roland RD-1000, Synthogy Ivory, Session Keys Grand S & Electric R, Kontakt, Focusrite 18i20, KetronSD2, NS40M, Pioneer Active Monitors.
Also what do you mean by no data? Are the MIDI tracks' data there?
In BiaB the software automatically uses a GM synth. Most all DAWs do not. When I transfer my MIDI files from BiaB to my DAW, Studio One Pro 5 NO sounds are transferred, only the MIDI data. I have to assign a sound to each and every track. In some DAWs YOU can assign a GM synth and everything will sound OK. I know nothing about Mixcraft so I can't help you there.
I hope this helps and good luck.

Thanks guys. I have Mixcraft 9 as my DAW and use BIAB Ultra 2019 64 bit. Usually I do a song in BIAB, then open my Mixcraft and drag and drop the master tracks into the DAW which brings them all in individually. I've done this many many times with no issues. The style I recently chose had several midi (yellow marked) tracks. I wrote the song as usual and then tried to drag and drop into the DAW. The midi tracks did transfer but there was nothing on them, they would not play.
Mario, I will see if that is an option in Mixcraft as I've never transferred a midi before, but you are correct in that the tracks are there but no sound.

You mentioned that the tracks are there, but do they have any notation related data?
Do the tracks that you dragged to the DAW have any data in them (in Mixcraft), or are they empty tracks?
If the tracks have data, then you also have to assign a sound device to the track before you will hear any sound. Do you have a VSTi or a MIDI device assigned to the track?

Also, the usual technique to transfer MIDI data is to drag the track to the Drop Zone, then drag it from the Drop Zone to your DAW. Did you use that technique?

VideoTrack. Ooh, I did not see that option on the Drag and Drop. I was able to use Real Band and just transferred the tracks into it and I see there were I can assign VSTI synth to it. Have no idea what I'm doing, but I do understand that MIDI is just data and not really sound. In Mixcraft I see I can create midi like from audio but again this is a whole area I know nothing about. Probably need to do some reading up on it. I will try the midi on the drag and drop and see what happens. Thanks.
Okay, I did the mid selection and then the drag and drop to my DAW which they all showed up in blue color with data this time, but there still is no sound. So I guess it's the synth issue that I don't see where I can add in Mixcraft. It did seem to be in Real Band but I didn't know how to apply it and then I could save the track as a wav file and add it to Mixcraft. Right now beyond my knowledge level.
I've never used Mixcraft but I checked the Mixcraft manual and it is likely to be something along these lines.
Click on the small keyboard icon at the left hand end of the MIDI track and then assign an existing preset to the VSTi, like this:
BIAB & RB2026 Win.(Audiophile), Windows 10 Pro & Windows 11, Cakewalk Bandlab, Izotope Prod.Bundle, Roland RD-1000, Synthogy Ivory, Session Keys Grand S & Electric R, Kontakt, Focusrite 18i20, KetronSD2, NS40M, Pioneer Active Monitors.
Just found another solution as I posted my question on the Joanne Cooper's Facebook BIAB site. In BIAB there is a save as midi which saves just those particular tracks to a .mid file with the sound included and then you can Add Sound File to Mixcraft and you don't have to do the VST preset sounds in Mixcraft. This keeps the original sound BIAB assigned to the tracks. Learning more than I ever wanted to really know about midi. Ha! It so happened that the song style I choose had both Real and Midi tracks. Interesting!! But thank you all.
Great, thanks for letting us know you resolved. Yes, there are many ways to export MIDI from BiaB. I suggested a technique based on your comment of 'transferring' to your DAW. Perhaps consider marking your original post as 'resolved' (there's a button for that).
