Last month I presented Band-In-A-Box to thirty workshop attendees in a session called Alternatives for Worship with Zero Musicians. You can check the workshop description out at http://www.potomacag.org/eq_alternativeworship.asp, at least as long as the page will be maintained.

This workshop is part of a tri-state Equipping Conference for church leaders in the Washington, DC area. I had participants from as far away as the Morgantown, West Virginia area.

I demonstrated the full flexibility of BIAB to support worship in churches in ways that other methods such as CD/DVD tools cannot. I showed how simple it is to transform a leadsheet downloaded from CCLI's SongSelect database into a good sounding song for worship use. I then handed out copies of PG Music's latest newsletter, along with another document that described system requirements, sound card advice, etc.

The response was outstanding. I had several individuals commit to purchasing BIAB for use in their churches.

PG Music has shown interest in the past at targeting small church and new church plants as part of their marketing strategy. I still feel that this is one area that shows great potential.

PG Music has a newsletter? I thought I was on the mailing list, but I've never seen it.

I'd love to see a BIAB conference in my area, not necessarily church related. It'd be great to see BIAB being used live in the hands of accomplished users. I know of a handful of users in the Atlanta area from contacts here, but surely there are enough to make an area meeting worthwhile.

On the other hand, a church music conference would bring in users looking for new solutions. As progressive as some of my muso friends claim to be, they have proven remarkably resistant to the idea of using BIAB, even though I've shown them some of what it can do. The fact is, I'm open to technical solutions wherever they may lie.

Has anyone considered taking BIAB on the road in this way?

R.

Joel,

Many thanks for that. It looks like a great workshop, and I'm glad to hear that it was a success.

Thanks for the kind response, sir.

Unfortunately, at the time I had to suggest that the participants avoid becoming too impressed with RealTracks due to the fact that so much time is required to generate the tracks in realtime; I suggested that they purchase with that in mind.

Now that RealTracks generation has been improved, there is no reason that I can see that would prevent RealTracks in live settings.

I assume that the Director Mode has been working well with RealTracks?

Ryszard,

I would show off BIAB to anyone who would want to see it, but I haven't made a dime doing so. Even as a presenter at this conference my gas was reimbursed and nothing more.

I don't receive any benefit from PG Music for presenting at these conference either. Of course, I have not because I ask not, but I wouldn't really expect PG Music to do too much in this area.

Peter has consistently produced outstanding product for a good price by eliminating much of the marketing and depending much on word-of-mouth. Even advertising in publications and so forth has generally been low-key. This is the way that PG Music saves money to pass on in the way of savings to the customer.

I suppose that PG Music could always sponsor a college football bowl game. I can see it now:

Good one. If there is punch bowl count me in.

Clicks are ok, but visual is better. Cheerleaders with cards 1, 2, 1 2 3...ok now we are on to a new add on. Let's dump the boring visual metronome, choose your cheerleaders LOL.

Devious mind.....
