Looks like at this point, they've just been distributing files in the background for this update and are not forcing it at this time. I didn't see it until I went into Settings-->Update & Security-->Check for Updates. I installed it since I like to figure out any issues I can right away. Luckily, this update did not screw with my sound settings which seems to be a first. Stay tuned. What's new in Windows 10, version 20H2

I have never had an update CHANGE my software. I have had them reset my audio to use Windows audio and the computer's onboard sound hardware, but that took about 15 seconds to diagnose and restore.
This one I got like a month ago and saw no ill effect whatsoever. The big thing about digging your heels in and refusing to update is that eventually you will have no choice, so why give yourself heartburn and gray hair fighting it?

This got put on my new machine. It worked fine so I updated the old machines. So far I have not had any issues.
Having a duplicate of my old computer has made me much more comfortable about the possibilities of some random software failure.
I decided a long time ago to never again get in a single engine airplane...lol
If all I was doing was word processing and surfing the internet I could very well still be running XP or at least win 7.
I have not used the new machine enough to really comment on i9 or M.2 NVMe. The benchmarking is remarkable for the SSD, a quantum leap. Everything loads and runs faster but then again everything ran very fast on the i7 and SATA SSD. I can say I find Microsoft Edge useful. Chrome is still the go to.
