Please make the default mixer behavior to display all 7 legacy tracks. Or if you won't do that please at least add an option on that eye icon/button to display all 7 legacy tracks. I see no reason or benefit to changing this behavior to hide unused tracks by default. And the extra space freed up by doing this is not even used...just a gray empty area.
I may be wrong, but I thought that any that are clicked on in the Mixer (found under the "eye" icon) remain selected even though BIAB is exited. That seems to be working for me with the exception of the "Soloist" track.

Yes, with the exception of the "Soloist" track Audio track and Utility#1 track. It is kind of hit or miss.
Yes and don’t forget the show/hide inactive, also under the eye. Or you will only see active ones, these will vary from style to style and if or not you have melody and soloist and audio tracks in your project.
I think this was suggested back in Beta, you could set the default track set in the Mixer Settings with checkboxes. And, with the Eye have a dialog that opens so you don't have to go up and down to set each track you want to show to show, you open the dialog and checkbox each track you want to show, then close the dialog all in one go.
Please make the default mixer behavior to display all 7 legacy tracks.
I want ALL 7 legacy tracks to be visible and stay visible regardless of whether or not they are currently loaded with an instrument. It makes no sense to me to hide things like a mixer track just because I do not currently have an instrument on it.
- When I turn all of the legacy tracks on and then exit BIAB...Soloist is hidden when I open back up. - When I load a style that has less than 5 tracks...BIAB hides tracks. - If I then turn those tracks on and exit...when I open BIAB again it turns them off again.
This is extremely annoying! We have gotten used to seeing the mixer with bass as #1, drums as #3 and so on. Now I have to look closer to see what tracks are actually displayed.
One of the primary rules of good GUI design is don't hide things programmatically. Letting the user control visibility of an item is fine but automatically hiding something like a mixer track seems absurd to me.
I see it in the wishlist also, so hopefully it will get some traction.
It is one of those "new features" that breaks existing workflows and it should at least be optional to go back to how it was before. I mean, c'mon, who asked for tracks to be automatically hidden? I cannot see any benefit to this behavior. Maybe someone can enlighten me?
I am just the opposite I don’t want to see tracks I’m not using. It just takes up space.
This was alway my complaint with RB why show all tracks in the mixer and all the sends I just want to see the ones I have created like every other mixer.
Seems like that is conventional programming.
But I guess optional is fine.
Isn’t there already a setting to see the legacy mixer?

I am with Pipeline on this 100%. After using BIAB for over 20 years, who thought that I would just love to see this change in the mixer layout. If you are going to throw these radical changes out on your customers, at least give us the ability to chose which one we like. You did it with the CTRL-T option on the main screen, at least do it with the mixer also, please.

I like the current behavior, although an option to revert to the old behavior could be useful. All the track buttons are still visible. And if you add an instrument to an empty track using the track buttons, the mixer will add that track also. I like that.

I agree 100% on RB because it is a DAW. Well, kinda! But BIAB is a whole 'nother thing. BIAB has 7 key tracks that are and always have been essential. To arbitrarily hide some of them in order to have empty gray space is crazy in my opinion.
If you know a way to revert to legacy mixer please tell me. I just wanna work in BIAB like I always do without a useless new feature learning curve!
I would like to see some user options for how all these tracks are displayed, so +1. But don't forget, the gray area you call empty can be put to great use by other windows.

Here's an example, when you click the Eye you can set what is showing in one go, not eye click, check track, eye click, check track, eye click, check track,.......
Then in the setting when you click Custom it will let you set the Default.
John, I have to chuckle a bit, no disrespect meant just a bit of humor. Is this any different than when others of us don't like changes forced on us that affect our workflow? When we do that we are called out for standing in the way of progress? Maybe there is a little bit of "old guard" in all of us.
Having said that I stand by my view that options are a good thing, and would support a check box option.
However I have to point out that having to click the "eye" to access a couple legacy tracks that are not even used to start with in a style doesn't seem like a real big deal.
LOL sorry for my frivolity! I assure you I am just joshing a bit here.

But as more and more people want BiaB to be more like a DAW name me one DAW other than RealBand that shows tracks that are not used. I can't think of any and I have used a number of them. I am happy with the way it is but I will go for an option so others can have BiaB their way also.
