i upgrade every year but try to leave it until the 'early adopters' have ironed out the bugs.

811 is the latest approved patch but from some forum mentions i know 813 is out there somewhere

i don't want to miss the sale prices but do we know when 813 is due for release?

even then i imagine there will still be updates later

Hi Bob

The last couple of years the sale has been extended a couple of weeks, But that’s not to say it will always be.
There comes a time when you have to jump in to be sure.
I think for most people the current release will go just fine with the latest download.
I think we are well past the point, where you will get a total disaster on installation.
I am running 811, and any outstanding updates or bugs don’t effect what I do.
The updates from the forum links are quick to download and install as they roll out.
So I would say go for it.

Just my thoughts
Mike

In my case its how long before this dumb brunette relearns how to use even the simplestuff like even the mixer. To be fair,I missed out 2020,empty purse, but got this year's after demoing the new RTs which are brill. But even the simple standard things are now complicated.Have we forgotten its meant to be an ACCOMPANIMENT tool for the masses, not the few. I suppose it depends on how Big you expect YOUR Band in the box to be.
Example on why - why have loads more tracks, Utility, that don't respect chords changes, rests or holds, without a load of Faff?

Bob, patches will no doubt continue but the program is stable. There is no guarantee they will extend the sale prices.

Wendy, I answered this very question from you in another thread, and you said you understood. PG Music has said the future plans are to add more capability to Utility Tracks but they are already doing more than advertised at release time. They are tremendously helpful for me now.

No need to wait - you might as well order now and have the box sitting on some shelf until version 8xy is out.

Or have it installed right away and apply patches as they come along. These days its like 'painting the fourth bridge' . . .

Wendy,
Mixer is actually a very good addition. You can have it the size you want it, display only the tracks you want, save mutes / solos on restarts, etc. You can have it as simple or complicated as you wish.

Utility tracks as I understand are only a start, I believe they will make them to respond to bar changes at some point (I hope it comes soon smile So for now, if you do not use them, you do not have to "see" them in mixer at all. They will not be in your way.

"Have we forgotten its meant to be an ACCOMPANIMENT tool..."
I think we just remembered smile arrangers, software or hardware all have at least 16 tracks. These Utility tracks will be awesome when completed. Did you know that for now, you can generate RT to follow all chord changes and copy it (with all changes) to Utility track? For temporary solution, it is workable.

With that said, many new Real tracks are great, so it worth upgrading just for that.

apologies to PG Music and everyone else - i didn't mean to sound as negative as the post does now i reread it. i got the cash to upgrade as a christmas present and i promised myself i'd upgrade as soon as the next version was released but its been over a week since 811 and i'm dying to get my hands on the new 2021 package.

i see there's now a problem with the master button which i use to drag and drop BIAB songs into RB but as i normally use RealTacks and don't mix midi with them, at least that won't affect me.

i certainly won't miss the sale prices and i know we had patches all through 2020.

i want 2021 very much and was hoping someone knew when we could expect 813.

This grief about software getting more complicated over the years you see everywhere.
I spent about 3/4 year away from BIAB, and feel like a noob again.

I bought Photoshop CS6 and Adobe Premiere a while ago and never upgraded since they moved to an only online working version, quite expensive BTW.
Stuck with the already complicated older versions and got quite familiar with them, and each time i still discover new tricks.

The problem is probably that software sellers need to sell updates to stay alive, and marketing forces them to add more stuff called 'NEW'.
I know a lot of professionals who explicitly stick with a version of a DAW or Video program they know well just to be able to work fast.

813 is out now! I would purchase 2021 now at the intro prices even if you don't immediately install it.

Yes there are certain problems with it but it is usable right now and I'm positive PGM will fix all the bugs ASAP.

OK, a random thought;

yes 813 is being downloaded tomorrow. hope the master button issue is fixed soon as that is how it transfer songs to RB but if its only a midi problem that shouldn't affect me.

a bit of drudgery in reinstalling all my plugins to RB 2021...

Next batch of fixes is already here in the beta test forum. Some good stuff on the horizon.

Fixed: The "Output Chords" track was not included in exported MIDI files.
Fixed: Dragging Master to MIDI quadrant of drop station would fail.
Fixed: MIDI files exported using drag and drop was not channeled properly.
Fixed: Access violation when generating song that has style changes.
Fixed: RealDrums will be silent if BT1 and BT0 files are missing.
Fixed: Issues with muting & un-muting tracks using Bar Settings.
Fixed: Changing song position during playback did not work if using MME audio drivers.
Fixed: Deleting chords in the chord sheet did not trigger RealTracks to regenerate.

As mentioned, updates are being rolled out regularly as identified issues are being resolved. So you will not be 'stuck' with the build number of the 2021 version you purchase.

Ha. No matter how long you wait, you would always get the most updated version.

Time to dive in, i think.

Wendy, you ain't wrong!

I love new features as much as the next person but I don't need or want new features that are incomplete or "coming soon"! Those just slow me down and frustrate me. Keep that stuff in a private beta until it is fixed/complete.

I wish they would make it so I could just buy the upgrade and only install the new RealTracks but keep using my stable version of BIAB 2020 for now.

And the new version breaking working features make me wanna pull out my hair!!!

done and upgraded with 2021, registration bonus, the 49 pak and xtra styles 10. i'm always impressed by the download manager - set it and forget it rather than wait by the pc.

was a little surprised that today's installer gave me version 804 and i'm glad i checked as i had assumed i'd get 813. but update patch now installed and now for the drudgery of reinstalling all my vst plugins to RB 64 bit..............

Buy it now and wait to install. There is no time limit on installation. You can wait until the cows come home. But to echo other posts, it is stable now with very few, if any, issues that affect most peoples workflow. That is not to say you can't find a bug. As many people do when they do things that maybe not everyone does very often.

My wife asked if I had seen the dog bowl. I told her I didn't even know he could.
