I have a song I made up using 32 bars of 4 choruses which plays normally. Simple enough.

I also normally use "Audio, Export Song As An Audio File" and have it create a separate file for each track.

Funny thing is that the rendering produces a good MP3 file for the Piano, Drums, Guitar and Strings but I get the following error messages when it is rendering Bass and Melody. Those are rendered as WAV files and are not compressed to MP3 files like the others.

I am using the standard CoyoteWT synth for midi.

Rendering succeeded! [2021.813.0, 12/29/2020 4:30:43 PM]

What exactly is the ACM codec that BIAB seems to think I may need?

LAME?

or some other.

Using build 813.

Just tried 2 different songs and the 1st song results were the same. 4 MP3 files and 2 WAV files with the error message.

The 2nd song only had the Bass, Piano, Drums, Guitar and Strings tracks populated but this song would not render the Piano track to a MP3 file, all I got was a WAV file.

Just loaded style _NECTAR and it's demo song.

Results:

Strings,Guitar, Piano and Drums rendered fine. Bass did not compress and all I got was a WAV file for that track.

Hi,

I just ran through this and everything worked for me. I'm using build 813, too.

The only difference with my set up was that I had "Normalize mix" selected and I rendered to 128000 bits per second.

I got errors initially but that was because I'd forgotten to rebuild Stylepicker. After running the Slow Rebuild, rendering was fine.

Regards,
Noel

I tried it using various bit rates and it seemed to work OK at anything under 192000.

192000 and above seems to fail every time on the Bass Track. Bass track is usually a Mono Track also.

You were using 128000 and it worked OK for you. Try a bit rate of 320000 and see what happens.

Now when I dragged the MASTER to MP3 using Drag-Drop method, it works OK.

When using Drag Drop it is interesting that BIAB does not give me a bit depth, sample rate or bit rate choice as I get using "Audio, Export Song As An Audio File".

I will do a full rebuild on the style list and see what happens.

Just did a return to full factory settings and a long rebuild of the styles.

I did the rendering using 320000 and it failed on the bass track.

I then did it at your setting of 128000 and it works just fine on all tracks.

I then did it at 192000 and it failed on the bass track.

Same results as I have gotten in the past.

I think the developers may need to look into this.

The ACM conversion method is a fallback in case Windows Media Foundation conversion doesn't work for some reason. For MP3's, Windows Media Foundation works on Windows 8 and higher. So that's not the issue here. It seems to be specifically having to do with creating higher bitrate (320Kbps) MONO file. Perhaps Media foundation doesn't support that... I'm not sure. One fix is to set the 'Channels' to stereo instead of auto.

(ACM is an older method that was used prior to media foundation and was tricky to get working for mp3's so it's not surprising that's failing as well).

The seems to do the trick Andrew. I set the channels to Stereo and the bass track renders just fine.

Also remember that I got failures using a bit rate of 192000 and a mono track.

I will mark it Resolved in a few days in case someone else wants to chime in.
