I just upgraded from BIAB 2020 to 2021.

My previous installation folder was on my D: drive, but I now have a larger, faster (SSD) C: drive so I installed the upgrade to C:\BB.

I seem to be missing LOTS of RealTracks in LOTS of styles.

When I do a RealTrack VERIFY, it creates a file called CheckBt0.txt with these error messages:

This will check RealTracks installation. For a RealTracks to work, there needs to be a ST2 file in BB folder, and a folder of WMA files in the RealTracks folder set in Prefs-RealTracks Settings.

INSTALL ERROR: RealTracks # 364(Set #2), RealTracks NOT found here C:\bb\Soloists\RAcG10.ST2, but RealTracks folder IS found here: C:\bb\RealTracks\Guitar, Acoustic, Fingerpicking Ev 065\ . Re-install r*.st2 r*.xt2 files to BB folder

(and it then lists a LOT of the above errors)

Then the CheckBt0.txt file says:

Number of RealTracks ST2 found in BB folder = 467
Number of RealTracks WMA folder found in RealTracks folder = 681
This will check dates of Bt0/bt1 files compared to WAV and WMA files in RealTracks and RealDrums.
Drums WMA - no date errors

Error, WMA date is newer than WAV D:\bb\Drums\BossaBrushes\BossaBrushes_045_Style.WMA, time difference = 22,480,670 seconds.

And it then lists LOTS of that type of error.

Finally at the very end of the CheckBt0.txt file it says:

Drums WAV - no date errors
RealTracks WMA - no date errors
RealTracks WAV - no date errors

Anybody got advice? Should I just try to re-install the entire program?

thanks--

Michael

Hi Michael. Welcome to the forum.

If you want to reinstall, start with version 2020 to drive C, then do 2021.

As a first step check Options > Preferences > RealDrums and see what you have for your customs drums folder, then do the same for Options > Preferences > RealTracks. Do they point to where your RealDrums and RealTracks are and is the checkbox ticked for each?

Secondly, run the Cleanup Routine from the Help > Utilities menu.

Probably the RealTracks and RealDrums are still on the D: drive and BiaB update now on the C: drive cannot locate them unless you set the paths.

I installed BB2021 on a second drive and I just copied the styles, realtracks and songs directories content form C to D and it seems to work fine.

Further, instead of setting the paths, you could copy everything from
D:\bb\Drums\ to C:\bb\Drums\
and
D:\bb\RealTracks\ to C:\bb\RealTracks\

Then do a rebuild in the StylePicker.

If that works, then delete the files on D:

Thanks for the suggestions guys! I have everything pointing to C:\BB so no custom locations.

And I copied everything from my old D:/BB locations to their respective locations on the C drive.

Perhaps I am misunderstanding something basic...

Should I be seeing styles that do not contain RealTracks that I do not own? I don't recall that happening before, but perhaps I did not notice it. When I put the styles in date order there is not a single 2020 style that is complete - each one has at least one missing RealTrack instrument - can that be right?

Which Pak do you own? Pro, Mega, Ultra, Ultra+ etc?

My understanding is that the "What Add-ons Do I have?" command will show all available PG Music items, including ones missing from lower level Paks.

Hey Matt,

Should I go back even further? I could start with 2016 as it seems there were RealTracks as part of the install package. Then I have 2019 with a MegaPack install, then 2020 Pro, and finally the latest 2021 Pro.

(I actually have been using BIAB much longer... almost since the dawn of the program... never had any problems till I tried the 2021 upgrade while switching the drive location.)

thanks--

Michael

Performing an upgrade would not remove any existing RealTracks or RealDrums, it would only add newer ones.

Where was BiaB installed previously? That is where the original Drums and RealTracks will be located.

Installing 2021 to a different drive will likely place the newer RealTracks / RealDrums on the new drive and leave the existing ones on the old drive. Cannot do this.

It seems from above that you have already done this, but in case, if they are now split across 2 drives, you can either move the original files from the original drive to the new install location, maintaining the folder structure, or move the RealTracks and Drums folder from the new location to the original drive, again maintaining the folder structure. If you use the second method, you need to point BiaB to the new RealTracks and Drums folder locations (Options > Preferences) as explained previously.

If you have the Pro Pak, then this is the most basic entry level Pak available, despite the misleading name. In fact, Mega Pak has more than Pro Pak.

Can you name something that is missing that you believe that you should have?
