I start with an all RT style -- I decide that I want to have a custom midi patch for bass. I go to "select custom midi style for this track" and then I click on "choose style with this patch" and select the midi acoustic bass part I want. The mixer shows that I've chosen something from the style that contains the midi part I want , but it also says "0 no patch change. It won't generate midi and track remains green. It doesn't turn yellow like a midi track will. Never had this happen before.
I'm getting increasingly frustrated with new versions of BIAB breaking long-standing, stable features. I've been using BIAB since 1992 on Atari.
I'm fairly sure that I can repeat your findings. Even after generating again, the tracks shows as a RealTrack (green) and doesn't actually play anything. Lots of issues with the mixer are still getting resolved. I'll report this to the developers.

Wish I had a buck for every time this question comes up over the years. Generally after a ton of effort we confirm it can be done, but why does it have to such a big deal?

I really can share your joy, of getting assumed basic functions to work as expected. In fact it is an utter source of frustration and drain of musical energy.
When I fought a long fight with BIAB to get the thing to work, most time I am worn out by then.
I am also a decades long user ob Biab always keeping the hope this piece of software with it´s magic promise to do all the things in the functional specs, starts to simply do it´s purpose....

I'm going to keep working with the developers so that they will be able to understand and hopefully resolve the issues that you are identifying. I don't think these are isolated cases. Resolving such potential issues will be a positive outcome for the program and its users.

The problem of not being able to put a custom midi style on a track with an existing RealTrack has been fixed by build 822. Much thanks to the development team. John
