I am a hymn/gospel song writing, with my most recent composition I am having trouble with the chords. Would anyone be willing to give it a listen and try their hand at adding the chords?

Band-in-a-Box has two audio chord wizards and a midi chord wizard that detects chords. Use one of these tolls to detect the chords and automatically populate the chord sheet.

There are videos that demonstrate how to use the audio chord wizard +++ HERE +++.

I'm sure other forum users will answer specific questions about how to use these tools.

Read CCLI charts and the guitar version of the ELW (Evangelical Lutheran Worship) Hymnal. That's how Not to do it.

I'd post examples but they're so poorly realized that it's just too sad. Suffice to say that no guitarists with ears were involved.

I make music for 2–4 Lutheran churches every week these days.

Sure. Post a link.
I have been steadily advancing through that workflow from
inception on forward and have discovered a few things along the way. It is not easy to first write the melody and then add the chords. Without hearing what you are doing, though, pretty hard to tell.

Do you know about relative minors to a key. For example if you do a song in D then the main chords are D, G and A7. The relative minors quite often can add beauty and replace or supplement the main chords. The relative minors for D are Em F#m and Am also B diminished could be good.

If you want send me your email and I will send you a spreadsheet with all the relative minors for all the major keys.

Also what is the nature of your problem finding the chords? Do you know what chord the song starts with? I hope the relative minors will help you. You can also look up info on keys/scales and relative minors on the Internet.

The key thing to know is that within a given key the relative minors of that key can also be nice embellishing chords. So if I write a song in D I know that the D, G and A7 are the foundational chords (I-IV-V7) and often the relative minors can be added to the song to give it more detail and beauty--i.e Em or
F#m or Am.
I write worship songs too!

The Windows version, yes. The Mac version, no. Most DAWs can do this, too.
