i got hundreds of songs in rough form.
this is one of em..lol.
called Big Fun time.
n it sorta bugs me.
http://stashbox.org/740464/fun.mp3
it sorta reflects my philosophy on life..
n song creation.
viz..we are only here for a short time on this
crazy planet ..
so i wanna have as much fun as possible
and i cant worry bout bout all the fancy recording
gear i could never afford in a lifetime.

i'm too darn close to the thing.
its just ruff guide traks.
if its junk tell me.
some friends say they like it..
but mebe they are being nice...lol.
i dunno. simple chord structure etc.
but sometimes simple just works. KISS concept.
i just used geurilla junk cast off dumpster gear..lol..
to show a friend that one can rough out
a song with no money.

it needs tons of production work.
merry xmas.

Man - it's got character - I like it the way it is.
Maybe a touch more drums to keep it chugging. Beat gets a touch lost in the instrumentation at times. I think you need a big snare here.
Other-wise leave it alone. A Big Thumb's Up.

Cheers - Ian

ian.
your too kind mate.
its just a rough giggle song.
got loads of em.
re the drums...yeh they are only place holders.
i used to use good drummers ..
but no more cos on pension.
so i just used drumcore that came free with
a computer music mag.
i'm hoping to replace with a proper drummer.
if i produce it properly.

rharv.
cheers.
yeh its just guides.
to see if the song idea is junk or not.
as anyone knows me knows..
i like to sing in lotsa different voc styles for fun.
years ago even sang opera...seriously..lmao.
for this one i decided to use..what i call "evil gnome"
voc style for a laugh....lol.
if people get a giggle out of it..i'll be happy.
ps..the ruff demo sounds best on ipod mini earbuds here.

Man Ed! What I don't like is the slow download. Is this song being kept on a dial-up computer? I'll wait until it gets done and will listen.

Hey Mate. It has great possibilities. Fly a spaceship to the sun? Ummmmm ... yeh you'll have fun with that one. For sure. At least, one time.

I like your story telling in your songs. I say put something together. Your accent makes it too.

russ.
mebe its a song for the junker.
dunno. ..was done fast.
the basic idea of the song was to say..
"hey people we aint here long on this looney planet..
so ya better enjoy yerself n have fun every day..
n dont work yer guts out..cos work can do yer in..."

just that some friends seem to like it.
so i needed opinions.
so thats whats confuseing me mate.
sometimes yer average listener hears things differently
than us blokes doing doing songs all the time.
n get off on something simple.

i mean the chords are real simple.
which is interesting in itself.
20 yrs back i got into heavy what i call "wink chords".
or exotic chords n subs n inside chords etc etc.
ya know ..lol...the suspended this n the flattened that,
and then wink on some note. n the inversions etc etc.
ya know...real exotic chords.
i got all the books at one time on exotic chords.
still one of my favs is what a mate calls the 24th chord ..lol.
for song endings.
but for some songs they demand simplicity.

re the space ship lyric. yeh just a giggle mate.
assume the spaceship has a special coating..lol.

sorry bout stash. never been a prob here.
mebe its cos its xmas.
if anyone wants to do a storming live drum track..
i'll be happy to include it n give credit of course
for such . i still remember rharvs superb femme vocs
on a song ages back amazeing imho.
ps..russ.. if ya want lay down a bass mate for gigglers etc.
needs a nice bass trak.

that dont want me to sign up n want all sortsa details from me ??
i'll check also if i got enough space to upload to my mota site.

ps..forgot to mention.
in case someones considering the at2020 el cheapo mic.
one of the reasons i did this song awhile back
was to test out the 2020 i was given as a present.
the vocs on the song used the 2020.
for its daft low price i think its not bad.

Nice - lovely bit of "RAWK" (Raw rock).

Great track that reminds me of the British Punk coming through in the late 70s. Only constructive stuff would be; the vocals are a little too loud, and the drums way too quiet. The lead guitar bit is also a bit out of time. But it kinda works like that!

PS... if you're Canadian as your profile suggests, that's a heck of a convincing Cockney accent at the end of the track !

Dave.

thanks for the comments mate.
re ..cokney.
actually mate i'm a cokney born..lol.
and went to uni decades ago prolly not far
from you in the north east.
my dear wife is canadian.

but i do lots of other accents too on vocs for fun.
its just that this ruff seemed to call for certain voc styles.
like "evil ogre" ..lol.
all just good fun.
dont take the lyrics seriously.
its just a daft giggle.

ps..re the leads timing..yep...
but it just felt right.
its sorta "pushing".
tried changeing the timing ,..
but just didnt have the same "feel".

HAVE A GRRREAT XMAS.
(ps..i still miss the north east.
made lotsa good friends there at the time.)

I thought that accent must have been authentic ! Really enjoyed it, I've done some tracks before in a 'geordie' accent, regional stuff about the Tyne, mining, etc .... bit of a Lindisfarne thing lyrically!

I understand about the timing of the solo - sometimes it's good to break the rules! and it's well suited to the raw feel of the track.

Have a great Xmas yourself mate!

PS.... it's -2C here in Newcastle today !!

heres a rough new mix of "Big Fun Time"
with rharvs realtraks ...realdrums/realbass/bit o' real guitar
integrated/mixed in.
listen over ipod mini earbuds.

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=ZXRG3EU4

(tell me if the dload is fast enough please.)

frankly i keep on getting family interruptions cos of
xmas parties/shopping/..n the dog poops etc lol.
n i'm xmas pooped n tired too..lol.
so lots more work to do.
its rather a complex mix.
needs lots more production work.
(and yes the vocs are prolly still up too high..
just trying to get the beds right at the moment.)

any critique welcome.
its just a giggle tune..lol.

ps..david.
years back i saw the who live in hull with mooney on drums.
shows you how ancient i am..lol.
