This is probably more an XP thing than a BIAB thing.

Installed 2010 to a larger HD. Runs great, been running it for since the weekend, very happy with it. Hadn't bothered to unplug the smaller HD (the one shipped from PG) until today. A bootup without that disc runs fine, but the file icons show up as the generic icons, not the BIAB icon. For some reason XP doesn't know to look for those on the larger disk. Seems like I solved this problem before, but can"t remember how. Probably easy, but I'm currently stumped. Clues appreciated.

John,

Edit the properties on the shortcut. There should be a "change icon" button which will open a screen that will list the file that the shortcut is pointing to for the current icons displayed. It's probably a windows DLL. You might have changed the directory structure when moving the files to the bigger drive so windows cannot find the application and switched to the default file. If you select the "browse" button and choose the BIAB program file (where the program icons should be stored) located in the installed directory it should bring up what you are looking for.

I don't have access to my BIB installation here to check whether the icons are embedded in the application or if they are external *.ico files stored in a directory that you may need to point to. In the latter case they will either be stored under the "program files" directory or possibly an "applications" folder under your "documents and settings" directory. You can easily search for *.ico and look for the files stored under a "PG Music" related directory if they are not embedded in the app.

Regards,

Vince

Hello John,

Try going to the File menu in Band-in-a-Box | Utilities | Associate file types.

Thanks Vince, but I'm referring to icons for files and (until just now!) I saw no place to edit their properties.

Fixed. Answer is go to Folder Options in the Control Panel. Click on the File Types tab, then go down to the MGU type, hit the Advanced Button and browse over to the BBWICO.ICO on the disk where BB is now installed. Done.

Your advice kicked my brain in gear. Thanks.

Great! I wasn't sure if it was the apps or the file type.
