Try It (it might be your favorite)

An ode to my mother's cooking.
Please do have a listen and let me know what you think

Try It (It Might Be Your Favorite)

My sisters and I were reminiscing about our mothers cooking.
Some we liked...some not so much.
And we were reminded of your favorite thing to say when testing out something new.
Try it! It might be your favorite!

Try It (it might be your favorite)
© Marty Ricciotti
May 17 2021 Key: D 160 BPM

Verse 1
Shred zucchini, mix it all good.
Add some chocolate, yes you should.
Bake that cake forty minutes, at three twenty five.

Potato chip crumbs sprinkled on top.
Those green peas really make it pop.
Tuna casserole on Friday night.

Chorus
Oh won’t you try it! It might be your favorite!
You’ll never know till, you give it a try.
Oh won’t you try it! It might be your favorite!
Don’t’ be shy. Don’t be shy.

Verse 2
Cinnamon and cloves in the sauce.
Stir it well. Give it a toss.
Place that platter on a table set for eight.

Little square pans, paper lined
Filled with batter. So sublime.
Fruit cake doth abound at Christmas time

Chorus

Bridge
Wacky Cake and Glazed Orange Cake. Mississippi Mud.
Pineapple Dessert for you.
Creamy Chicken with Mushroom soup
Straight from the can
Lemon Rosemary Chicken Wings

Chorus

Outro
And if your eyes, are bigger than your stomach.
You just might get a bellyache.
Mmmsssss

Not bad at all... and a good point too.
The 2584:Guitar, Electric, Rhythm PunkMuted Ev 165 is a bit of a dud... the rest of the band suits your voice well.
Jubilee did a grand job particularly on the 2nd half of the chorus.

That said the bridge was definitely wobbly.

Fun song!

Cheers

Super job on this Marty! The vocals are excellent! Love the refreshing enjoyable lyric content! It's a shame more songs aren't written that bring back fond memories like this! Thanks, Torrey

I was skeptical ... but I like it! I thought the lyrics looked awkward, but you pulled it together with your melody and that driving beat.

Heh. Guess that means I did what the song said. I was skeptical, I tried it, and I liked it.

Might need this one for my granddaughter :-/

OK Marty you said "let me know what you think" so here's what I think. Other than the fact I gained 10 pounds (4.5 kilograms) listening to this song I loved it.

The lyrics were expertly sung. Your vocal and harmonies were spot on as was your mix.

This is an outstanding song.

Thanks Ray!
We had a lot of fun singing this song.
It started off as a blue grass song in a higher key, but I couldn't hit the high note in the chorus.
(so I thought.. how could I write a song that I couldn't sing??)

So I hunted for a different style and really liked the way the drums are played with this style.
That was my main draw

Thanks For the Listen Torrey!
I had the song completed for a few weeks before Jubilee came over.
Then we sang it through for an hour or so. We were singing together just a few feet apart and did get some bleed across the tracks but it doesn't seem to be noticeable in the final mix.
Then we saved to last two takes and used then in the song. We are double tracking in the choruses.

Well Mario thanks for the listen.
"Expertly sung"! Well that is high praise.

Jubilee is a vocal teacher so I take all the help I can get.
She can hear things in the mix that I miss.

yum yum Bubble and squeak! I want some right now
the google says
Bubble and squeak is a British dish made from cooked potatoes and cabbage, mixed together and fried.

We had a track of mmm's playing at the end so we mm'd along with it.
Then we ditched the mmmm's and kept our own.
and had a lot of laughs!

Very delicious song, catchy chorus, nice rocking tempo and enjoyable vocals including the harmonies.
Nice drum break near the end, liked also the ending mmmmss voices. Some could make a good song by singing a phone book, you have done that with a cooking book smile
