Hallo in die Runde,
ich bin ganz neu hier dabei. Über die vielen Jahre habe ich immer mal' wieder BIAB getestet, ob es für meine Bedürfnisse geeignet ist.
Es scheiterte meist schon daran, dass ich nie herausfinden konnte, ob man einfach einen Style auswählen und "draulosspielen"/improvisieren kann.
Die Styles konnte ich zwar auswählen und ich konnte via "Demo" oder "Play" den Song abspielen, aber beim reinen Nutzen der internen BIAB-Tastatur oder der DAW-Tastatur (wenn man BIAB VST nutzt) kam noch nie ein Ton bzw. wurde die erwartete Begleitautomatik beim "willkürlichen" improsiveren noch nie aktiviert.
Ich habe hier natürlich schon reichlich gegoogelt und mir Tutorials usw. angesehen. Entweder gibt es die Funktionen in BIAB nicht oder werden von den Usern so nicht genutzt
Von daher habe ich an Euch Expoerten ein paar generelle Fragen zur Funktionsweise von BIAB.
Vorab nochmal zusammengefasst mein Wunsch-Workflow:
a) ich möchte rein die VST-Version von BIAB in meiner DAW nutzen
b) ich wähle einfach einen der Styles aus, der in der VST-Version geladen wird (soweit bekomme ich es hin)
c) ich möchte keine Akkorde/Noten selbst bestimmen: ich weiß meist selber beim Improvieren nicht, was ich gleich spielen werde :-)
(ich lasse mich da meist vom Rhythmus/von der Begleitautomatik leiden; z.B. wie bei einem Yamaha-PSR-Keybord oder den Yamaha-Workstation-
Synthsizern , die ich im Einsatz habe)
d) Über die DAW-Tastatur und/oder die Hardware-Keyboard-Tastaturen möchte ich im rechten Bereich die Begleitautomatik improvisiert spielen
e) ich arbeite nicht mit Midi- oder Wav-Files und produziere keine fertigen Songs. Die Songs ergeben sich bei mir rein aus dem improvisierten
Spielen. Variationen der Styles oder Begleitautomatik sind erst einmal nicht nötig (kommt ggf. später)
Nun zu meinen Fragen:
1. Kann man einfach Styles auswählen und direkt frei/improvisiert auf den Tastaturen spielen?
2. Muss man generell Akkorde/Noten in die Felder eintragen? Geht das nicht ohne? Wie schon vorher erwähnt: ich weiß beim Improviseren vorher
nicht, was ich spielen werde. Ich hätte gedacht, dass BIAB wie bei normaler Begleitautomatik zumindest zum Start eine Variation von
Rhythmus und Chords zum "drauflosspielen" anbietet (wie in z.B. allen Hardware-Keyboards)
3. Kann ich ohne das Erzeugen von Midi-/Wave-Files in der BIAB-VST arbeiten, wo es einfach reicht, einen Style auszuwählen?
Ich produziere letztlich keine feststehenden Songs oder Abläufe.
4. Es gibt ja in BIAB z.B. den Melodylist. Wenn ich über Melody Styles lade passiert nichts, wenn ich den Tastaturen spiele. Selbst, wenn ich
"Generate" in VST drücke und der Prozess abgeschlossen ist und versuche zu spielen, startet rein gar nichts. Es kommt kein Sound auf meiner
internen Soundkarte oder den Keyboards an.
Die Midi-Einstellungen sind wie immer bei mir auf Omni eingestellt. Eine Routing-Funktion im BIAB-VST habe ich bislang nicht gefunden.
Wobei, wie bei allen VST-Instrumenten nutze ich entweder Omni oder Channel 1.
5. Ich nutze den Asio oder FW Treiber (von Yamaha). Sind die beiden Treiber überhaupt für das BIAB-VST geeignet? Wäre schade, wenn nicht.

willkommen im Forum!
Deine Fragen zielen im Grunde auf eine Art intelligente Live-Begleitautomatik, eine Funktion, die Band in a Box nicht bereitstellt. Um deine Fragen zu beantworten:
1.) Band in a Box kann also nicht automatisch eine Begleitung zu einer live über ein MIDI-Keyboard eingespielten Melodie erzeugen.
2.) Ja, denn das ist das Prinzip des Programmes: Du gibst dem Programm Akkorde vor (eigentlich sogar eher Akkordfolgen, also mehrere Akkorde hintereinander, Jazzer nennen diese nach bestimmten Funktionsregeln wechselnden Akkorde "Changes"), mit denen das Programm eine Begleitung arrangiert – und das wählbar in einer Vielzahl musikalischer Stile. Du musst also mindestens einen Akkord eintragen, z.B. C – das klingt dann natürlich noch entsprechend eintönig ;-), besser aber eine musikalisch sinnvolle Abfolge von Akkorden.
3.) Letztlich erzeugt das Programm also immer eine Begleitung auf Grundlage der von dir angegebenen Akkorde – als MIDI oder Audiodateien, die abgespielt werden, selbst wenn du diese dann nicht speicherst.
4.) Der "Melodist" erzeugt zufällig eine Melodie auf Basis der angegebenen Akkorde, also eine Melodie, die harmonisch den vorher angegebenen Akkorden folgt. Aber auch der "Melodist" kann das nicht zu von dir live über MIDI-Tastatur eingespielten Akkorden machen.
Die VST-Version von Band in a Box arbeitet als PlugIn in einer DAW, bietet aber keine anderen (teils auch weniger) Funktionen als das Standalone-Programm. Band in Box unterstützt verschiedene Audio-Treiber, auch ASIO, mit unterschiedlichen Einschränkungen (ASIO zum Beispiel kann immer nur von einem Programm zur gleichen Zeit genutzt werden). Unter Windows 10 ist es sinnvoll, den Standard-Windows Audiotreiber WAS zu nutzen, er verursacht nur relativ kurze Latenzen und ist systemnah integriert.

schönen Dank für das Willkommen und deine Informationen.
Ich hatte es mir es schon fast gedacht, dass BIAB letztlich nicht die Lösung ist, die mir vorschwebt.
Wenn man Akkorde und deren Abfolge letztlich im Vorfeld festlegen muss, kann man tatsächlich nicht frei improvisieren und spielt letztlich nur Songs nach einem festen Muster ab.
Ähnlich wie bei der Nutzung von Backing Tracks.
Somit kann man nur mittels Solostimmen darauf frei improvisieren.
Denke BIAB ist halt nach wie vor nur eine ideale Lösung für Entertainer/Alleinunterhalter oder Songwriter, wo man tatsächlich komplette Songs oder Parts davon abspielt.

Na,welche Begleitautomatik arbeitet ohne Akkordvorgaben? Ich wüsste nicht, dass es so etwas gibt. Ich habe es früher so gemacht, dass ich ein Midifusspedal benutzte und den Akkord über Pedal vorgab, d. h. wenn ich improvisierte und mir nach Akkordwechsel war, die entsprechende Pedaltaste gedrückt. Eine "Intelligenz", die auf Grund einer Midigitarre und entspr. Improvisation dem musik. Verlauf mit Akkordfolgen "antwortet", schwebte mir auch schon vor, aber inzw. bin da "rausgewachsen".
Selbst wenn du mit einem Keyboard improvisierst, gibst du ja die Akkorde mit der linken Hand per Bassgrundton oder mit einem Akkord vor.
So ansatzweise gibt es glaube ich schon Keyboards, die auf Grund der gespielten Melodie irgendwie folgen, aber dies dürfte sich auch auf "Schemata" beschränken.
Freies Improvisieren ist auch bei einer "free jazz Combo" nicht,da jeder zu einem bestimmten Zeitpunkt eine andere "Empfindung" hat, dem Einen ist mglw. nach Moll, der Andere will nach 7/13, wer folgt dann wem?
