I have recently upgraded from BIAB 2019 (everything) to UltraPak 2022.
While looking around I thought I would try running Plogue Sforzando to check out the Hi-Q sounds. However, when I run it it displays this message
"Your copy of PG Music inc Band-in-a-Box Sounds is not activated. Band-in-a-Box Sounds will be silent in 4 minutes. Saving instruments from this bank is disabled"
It also displays a prompt "Yes/No".
I have activated BIAB so is this a bug?

How are you running Sforzando? Are you using it as a plug-in in BIAB?

I haven't come across this before.
How are you running Sforzando? Are you using it as a plug-in in BIAB?

Noel Hi Noel, I found the exe (sforzando x64.exe) in C:\Program Files\Plogue\sforzando and ran it from there. I assumed that BIAB installed this during the upgrade (when it ran playable_realtracks01_sforzando.exe ) but now I'm wondering if this was already installed before then. Cheers, Rec

Thanks for the extra information. I honestly don't know what PG Music's installer loads. It will depend on PG Music's deal with Plogue, I suspect.
As a test, could you try the following?
1) load an ordinary MIDI style
2) put the sforzando softsynth on the piano
3) try loading one of the PG Music sounds
Do you still get the message?

I tried that and got an error message which said...
"Could not load Hi-Q patch. The instrument might not be installed."
So it looks like something isn't installed correctly although I ran all of the installer files (using the download and install manager).

Were you trying to load one of the Playable Realtracks sounds? If so, you need to install "Playable Realtracks Set 1 for sforzando".
Did you use the Download manager to get and to install the BIAB files?

Noel, No I wasn't using one of the playable RTs (that's something else I need to test). I was using a MIDI style and replaced the default piano with a Hi-Q one which led to the error. I used Download Manager to download and install all of the files. Speaking of which.... One thing I noticed the other day is that D/L Manager doesn't seem to check for any "skipped" upgrades so it only downloaded/installed the files required for 2022 Ultra. My last upgrade was BIAB 2019 PlusPak so I noticed after the 2022 installation was "complete" that I was missing RTs 329 to 375 inclusive (from BIAB 2020 to 2021). I had to manually download these and used Master RT installer to install them (big improvement on the old method I have to say). This made me wonder whether I also had to run any other older installers... So I have just run "hiq_instruments_sforzando.exe" which I manually downloaded and ran (it was not automatically d/loaded by the D/L manager). That seems to have installed the Hi-Q files in the "C:\Program Files\PG Music Inc\Band-in-a-Box Sounds" folder and now the Hi-Q sounds work fine in BIAB.  It does make me wonder whether I need to re-run any other "old" installers to ensure that I have everything correctly installed. I mean files such as... realtracks_loops02.exe realtracks_shots_holds_loops_1-242.exe realtracks_shots_holds_246-441.exe The "What addons do I have" menu option at least shows that I have everything that I expected to have but I'm not sure that this does an integrity check on things like shots/holds/loops etc Thanks, Rec

I don't think there would be anything else you are missing. We have now added this file to the download file list - so anybody 'in the same boat' should install this file. It is not new, but perhaps some people haven't installed it before. It is smoother to have it installed, especially with the Playable RealTracks now also using the Sforzando plugin.

Thanks Andrew, I appreciate your response. I actually thought that I might have more issues caused by missing some upgrades since 2019, but on the whole it's been a pretty good experience. I like the download manager - makes the install process much better. When I installed the missing RTs I also really appreciated the Master RT installer which was soooooo much faster than a previous occasion I recall when I had to manually install a lot of RTs (painful  ) .
