Hey guys,
I'm so, so fed up with Windows... I consider switching to Linux, and only a very few programs could hamper this; one of which is, of course, B.i.a.b., so does anyone around tried it with "Wine" in a Linux system? Or are there any other alternatives?

Do a forum search using the search term Linux and you'll find several users that are running Band-in-a-Box (BiaB) on a Linux operating system. +++ HERE +++ is a link to one discussion.

It seems that some users have had some success, but I'm not sure that the configuration process is entirely straightforward. As Jim mentioned, search for the word 'Linux' and follow the threads.
BIAB & RB2026 Win.(Audiophile), Windows 10 Pro & Windows 11, Cakewalk Bandlab, Izotope Prod.Bundle, Roland RD-1000, Synthogy Ivory, Session Keys Grand S & Electric R, Kontakt, Focusrite 18i20, KetronSD2, NS40M, Pioneer Active Monitors.

Pipeline and I, at least, have it running in Wine. I've been putting my finding in the thread Jim linked.
I've also run it in Windows 7 under Linux inside a VirtualBox. There's a bit of messing about to do if you want to feed a USB-MIDI into it. I haven'trun the VirtualBox version for a while as I took back the partition to make space for something else (then bought a 4TB drive anyway :-/ ).
Windows, erm yes. ... I've had a persistent problem for nearly a year now, where Windows 10 does that "We couldn't complete the updates" and winds them out again, almost every day. It's also now taken to refusing to shut down, so I now restart and hit the power button when the bios appears. It was wasting around an hour per day. Now it's neared 1/2 hour, which is at least some improvement. It's totally maddening.
Jazz relative beginner, starting at a much older age than was helpful. AVL:MXE Linux; Windows 11 BIAB2026 Audiophile, a bunch of other software. Kawai MP6, Ui24R, Focusrite Saffire Pro40 and Scarletts .

Thanks, guys, for the feedback! Do a forum search using the search term Linux and you'll find several users that are running Band-in-a-Box (BiaB) on a Linux operating system. +++ HERE +++ is a link to one discussion. Of course I did start with that exact search, but seeing all the first relevant results filed under "wishlist" made me think it's users expressing their desire to have Bi.a.b. run on Linux - how can one know it's actually more than that... Now that I do know I will dive into that thread, of course, so thank you! Yes, sounds extremely annoying... I myself can't stand the damned updates anymore - is it just me or do these appear every few weeks meanwhile?? I hate it! And you never know: what exactly is MS installing on my computer now...? Back to topic: I wish somebody who's equally into B.i.a.b. and Linux would make some kind of video tutorial...
