Hello All,
I'm able to get the desired Garritan instruments to play back within my RB tracks, but am unable to automate the volume of these tracks (for fade-ins/fade-outs) like I can do on those tracks playing Realtracks.
So, how does one automate fade-in/fade-outs on those tracks playing Garritan instruments within RB?
Appreciate any suggestions.
Thanks, Shawn

You can use fader automation in the mixer. Or fading in the piano roll.

Garritan GPO uses the mod wheel for volume. Thus you must use your mod wheel or automate using CC1.

Thanks Rob and Mario,
Are there any tutorial that demonstrate these mixer and/or piano roll techniques that you can recommend?
CC1? Not familiar with this term. Can you explain?
Thanks, Shawn

CC is short for continuous controller. CCs control various MIDI data. CCs can make a stagnate BiaB MIDI track come to life. Here is a list of CCs:
https://professionalcomposers.com/midi-cc-list/#:~:text=MIDI%20CC%20List%20%E2%80%93%20Most%20Common%20Parameters.%201,%28filter%29%209%2074%20%3D%20Frequency%20Cutoff%20%28filter%29%20
Some CCs are universal; CC7 is volume, CC10 is pan, etc. Some are designated by the software you are using, in other words the software determines what CC numbers it will use to modify its parameters.
The mod wheel is designated as CC1. It can be used for vibrato, expression (CC11), or in Garritan's case volume. This is done so one can play notes or chords with the right hand and control the volume/swells with the left hand.
I hope this helps.

CC is short for continuous controller. Being pedantic, it actually stands for "Control Change". The CCs include not just the continuous functions like Volume, Pan, Mod Wheel, but also the bank selects & program changes, portamento On/Off and the like.

I may be wrong but I thought CCs could be called by both names: https://anotherproducer.com/online-tools-for-musicians/midi-cc-list/I apologize if I am wrong.

Hi Mario,
I think the use on the page to which you linked refers to Control Change messages that perform continuous control function, i.e., "continuous control" is a description of the particular controls described, rather than their name.
As I said, pedantic. It's because I used to spend so much time writing specifications and trying to avoid ambiguities. I struggle to stop myself.

I feel your pain as I used to have to write SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures). I will try to change my naming and call them Control Changes from now on. That is if I can remember; I have a bad case of CRS!

Hello All,
Want to thank all who responded to my query. I have been able to experiment automating volumes within the Piano Roll feature as Rob suggested. Will experiment at mixer, too.
Thanks Again, Shawn
