I started experimenting with using the new MicroChords feature, but it is not working as I expected. My thought was that the purpose is to give you 16 chord locations per bar instead of 4 and more accurate timing than the 8th note and 16 note pushes.
I put a MicroChord on the “and” of beat 4. When it got to beat 1 of the next bar, the realtrack went back to the chord that was playing on the previous bar before the microchord.
Is the feature really just to temporarily override the chord sheet?
Thanks, Dave

Hi DaveG, what build are you on? The latest build updates are posted here: https://www.pgmusic.com/support_windowsupdates.htm You could also freeze your tracks and send us a copy of your song to take a look at. Our email is support@pgmusic.com

Dave, to my understanding, Microchords are passing chords, they will snap back to main Big chord(s). So You have to change big chords too.. kind of plan ahead. Perhaps somebody can explain this better.

Hi Chantelle, I was up to latest (prior to yesterday’s update). I was trying to make sure that I understood the feature correctly before I made a request. Thanks, Dave

Yes, I found that to be the case. I guess that means you can’t cross a bar line with a chord like you can with a push. I did find a subtle difference between a push on the first beat of the next bat vs. using a micro chord on the last eighth note of the bar. With the push, all the instruments jump/stutter. With the microchord, the drums stay locked on the beat and it seems smoother overall. Thanks, Dave

Yes, I hoped that Microchords would help improve BIAB's unsatisfactory pushes, particularly on the last 8th of the bar going over the barline. But I found the same as you, that the pushed 8th note before the barline stopped and repeated on the next downbeat, when you want it to hold. The biggest problem with BIAB for as long as I can remember is that you cannot specify which instruments push or do not (as you can for holds and shots.) Until they add this feature there are lot of songs that BIAB cannot play correctly unless you render several files (push and non-push and holds) and then assemble what you want in your daw with cut and paste, ofsetting them by an 8th or 16th (which I do sometimes.) But to do this in BIAB while writing would be a great time-saver. One good technique is to freeze the drums (and perhaps others too) without a push and then put in the push for only the parts you want, like the bass, chords, etc. But this still is not as flexible as what I need. I am going to experiment with playable real-tracks to manually push certain instruments and see if that is a faster method than rendering multiple files and manipulating the audio in a DAW.
Microchords are great and a major improvement to the program. Now they need to add "hold' to them so that a microchord could hold until the next microchord (no matter how far away)
Motif is fantastic too, but it also really needs the option to hold and not just stop after the 16th note is finished.

With a consolidated wav file you don't have the control like the individual track segments. Below you can adjust the timing, volume or length as well as stretching it so it plays a slow strum. You have total control of what is played and where. Sure if you are up on stage with Biab backing or don't use a DAW it won't help but if you are just creating up songs/tracks then this will give you the control that you need. Watch https://www.dropbox.com/s/9xqixqq7uvj3wbu/Reaper-Biab-Track-Injector-Pushes-3.mp4?dl=0Download Reaper-Biab-Track-Injector-Pushes-3.mp4The Pushes use a 4 bar Hold so you can adjust to what length you like.

May I suggest you visit the +++ Band-in-a-Box Wishlist +++ and make the suggestions? I'd love for folks to have the opportunity to discuss and support your ideas without taking this thread off track.

"Now they need to add "hold' to them so that a microchord could hold until the next microchord (no matter how far away)" Did you try setting the RealTrack to "Held" for the bar you want the micro chords with F5 You can generate up some Holds the take them down to microholds manually. I just added some take markers to get the chord names.
