My wishlist request is for the simple drum patterns commonly used in country and pop ballads.
During the fifties and sixties the drums in ballads were typically very simple.
A common pattern for the verse of many country ballads was a soft brush playing 16th notes on the snare with a side stick, or rim shot on the 1 and 3 beats. Pop ballads used a similar drumming pattern but added kick or bass drum on the 2 and 4 beats.
Both pop and country sometimes had soft brushes lightly tapping on riveted cymbals on each beat during the chorus or instrumental solo.
A great example is "Born to Lose" by Ray Charles.

Hi Jim,
Can you post more examples of songs that you would want for a group of RealDrums like this? It could be youtube links, or even just more artist+songs that you think would be good examples. Also, in addition to ballads specifically, it could be any drum parts that fall under the category of "simple classic drums".
And, if anyone else wants to chime in as well, that would be welcome too!

While speaking of simple, laid-back country styles, how about adding some styles used in a number of songs by Don Williams? Don’t know what they call it, half-time, or what, but, I know it when I hear it. Take a listen to the following songs by Don Williams and you’ll hear it----especially the drums and bass parts.

+++ That'll Be The Day +++ by The Malpass Brothers is a great example of the country ballad drumbeat I desire. The verse is all brushes while the chorus has side stick and brushes. This song is a cut from their new album, Lonely Street, released May 11, 2023.
