This is one that I wrote after a guy told me I could write a song about anything, and that was off the chain. Then he said write something from that phrase, and this is what I came up with.

Off The Chain

https://soundcloud.com/ronniefields/off-the-chain

Her dog’s done off the chain,
Lord he’s coming after me,
I hope his bark is worse that his bite,
her dog is done off the chain.
Her dog is done off the chain.

Her dog’s done off the chain,
Lord he’s coming after me,
I hope his bark is worse that his bite,
her dog is done off the chain.
Her dog is done off the chain.

Well I guess I should have called her up,
to tell her I was coming in from driving a truck.
She got a new dog that don’t like me none,
if it catches me Lord I’m don.

Her dog’s done off the chain,
Lord he’s coming after me,
I hope his bark is worse that his bite,
her dog is done off the chain.
Her dog is done off the chain.

Girl I love you so, I just can’t wait,
won’t you please just come to the gate.
Fido, won’t let me in you see,
Lord have mercy on me.

Her dog’s done off the chain,
Lord he’s coming after me,
I hope his bark is worse that his bite,
her dog is done off the chain.
Her dog is done off the chain.

Her dog’s done off the chain,
Lord he’s coming after me,
I hope his bark is worse that his bite,
her dog is done off the chain.
Her dog is done off the chain.
Her dog is done off the chain.

You can write a great song... Love it.
Tighten up just a few timing issues, and you'll have a winner here.

Ronnie,

HA! Nice job of using a "seed" to write a new song.

Nice use of BIAB. Good vocals. Good mix.

Your catch-i-est song to date, I think...

Very cool... kinda funny too.

I love those things like that.... "Write a song from this:" It really stretches you as a writer.

You ran with that notion and took it to a good place.

Fun lyric, good performance, nice BiaB session and mix.

Enjoyed it!

I was going to write "catchy chorus", but I see floyd jane's already written a clever play on words.

But darned, but it is.

It's songs like this that make me wonder why lyric writing is so hard for me.

Fun song! smile

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Oh, your friend is so right, Ronnie. And you built it around sound really creative music. I like repeating the chorus at the start, and then the modulation seems to increase your need to run faster. But the truth is you can't outrun the Lord. hehe. Loved it!

Enjoy whatever happens!
