I just cross-graded from Win to macOS. Using BIAB 2021. Shocked to learn from PG Music tech support that it's not possible to export/render directly to MP3 on Mac. I could do this on Win. But even with an MP3 encoder installed on Mac, like LAME, there's no way to render directly to MP3? Surely PG Music tech support is wrong? Someone in these forums can tell me how to set up BIAB macOS to render directly to MP3?

Be shocked, then.
I have a number of apps that will bounce audio directly to mp3 but never do. It's a waste of time. You're asking the app to render and convert at the same time which slows down both processes. Much faster to convert the file after bouncing.
Say, I have a 5 minute file in Digital Performer with a few VIs and 24 tracks of audio. Bounce to disk 48k/24 bit takes under a minute. If I select bounce to mp3, it can take up to 10 minutes. No thanks. Most BIAB files render for me in 20 seconds or so.
I can take a few hours of mixes and rendered files, drop them into TwistedWave and all will become mp3s in 2-3 minutes. A single 5 minute .wav renders in 3–4 seconds.
QuickTime can convert one file at a time. It is possible to batch convert in AppleMusic or iTunes but it's a bit convoluted.
There are also free apps that will do something similar. I'd much, much rather save the time.

Understood about the time. But that should be our decision. PGMusic doesn't even give Mac uses the option to choose to export directly to MP3 or not. Windows users have that option. And it's not a Mac limitation. Plenty of other Mac apps can render/export to MP3. Guitar Pro, Amazing Slowdowner, and of course any DAW. For my workflow, I don't want a multi-step process of having to open another app to convert.

For my workflow, I don't want a multi-step process of having to open another app to convert. You've made that clear. I was trying to explain how things are. You want a feature that does not exist. I was explaining why some (many?) of us don't care that it doesn't exist and might not use it if it did. There are many music apps that do not export to mp3. Finale is just one unless exporting MIDI through the built in synth — which I never do.

This is not yet a feature in Band-in-a-Box for Mac.
