Hi folks,
On my old computer I am using the vsc/dxi and also have a souldblaster live card installed and is selected in options driver setup in biab. The new computer will only have onboard sound but as its a windows 7 32 bit I understand I can still use the vsc/dxi.
My question is wil the vsc/dxi sound much the same on the new computer as it does on the old, or does the fact that I have the soundblaster installed on the old computer affect the sound in any way? I will be using the same speakers.

It should be very very close to the same, as long as you were using it before (and not the SBLive midi synth)
I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome

"VSC" stands for Virtual Sound Canvas, meaning it is a software version of the popular Roland Sound Canvas synth modules. As such, it is independent of your hardware. Given that you are using the same speakers, yes, it should sound the same as before. That's part of the beauty of a "soft synth"--consistency.

The only difference in sound will be from the output of the sound system. The AC/97's have a good sounding wave engine. So you really shouldn't hear any difference. Where you may run into trouble is latency. When I tried using it my music was all out of sync when I recorded. Once I installed my SB Live card everything sounded perfect.
There is a possibility that the newest versions of BIAB and Real Band have better syncronizing abilities. Seems like that was mentioned in the last beta we did.

BTW you should be able to use your SBLive card if it's the 7.7 surround version. May have to upgrade the drivers but I'm sure Creative has 'em available. If not then you could use the KX project drivers. It's an awesome program. Kinda clunky the last time I used it but super good for recording. The only drawback is the 7.7 surround isn't compatible with KX. If you are using 5.1 then it should work fine.
