I've always had a question, is it important to have the bass down in the BAND IN A box? Because if I change the bass BASS, I find that I can also sing the melody I want. However, sometimes I find that the chord progression modifies the bass bass, making the bass go down. Is this important? thanks

Don't understand this. I'm not sure why changing the Bass would allow you to sing the melody. I've made several SGUs where BASS is not used and no problem. When you say 'bass down' do you mean volume?

using slash chords creates the kind of bass run a bass player would play to progress from one chord to another but like sixchannel i can't see how that makes it easier to sing

Tried your chord progression which works fine. Its a nice walking Bass line and clearly part of a song. I tried various midi styles and RT swing and even styles and had no problem. The Bass sounds out very nicely, even when part of an 'ensemble' style.

Having a specific walking bass line that the singer can listen to can make it easier to match notes for intonation. This is used in choirs and a capella groups a lot. But it is not the only way to make the song cohesive, and a good singer should be able to sing over top of any type of accompaniment part.

Does this mean that the downlink bass is for the convenience of singing?

Terms: by ‘bass down’ and ‘downlink bass’, are you referring to a descending bass line?

Sure.
There are lots of conventions that can be effective when writing a song’s bass line. Descending bass lines are powerful, but so are ascending bass lines, circle of fifths, pedal bass, doubling the melody, rhythmic hits, counterpoint etc. I wouldn’t call any of these more ‘important’ than any other. Use what works in the song, including more than one of these or none of them. Of course, a good strong bass line is a key component of a song and must mesh well with the melody, but I don’t think you can draw any conclusions about what kind of bass line makes things easier for a singer. If you think you’ve somehow been missing out, I wouldn’t worry about it.

I think what he may be trying to say is he can sing better when the bass plays the root. So a walking bass throws him off.
Just a guess as the translation seems a little rough.
If that indeed is the problem, then yes turn it down or off 'while you sing/record' the part.
For live performance it is trickier. The bass walking down can be an important aspect to the song, so turning it down could diminish the effect.
At least that's my stab at it late in the day

You could be correct. We really may not yet understand what the question is here.

Whatever the question is, it is not anything to do with BIAB.
I really would like this forum to get back to BIAB questions and problems. Or the question might be better suited to one of the other forums

IF the bass is walking or moving between chords it's very likely to be using chord tones, or at least key appropriate ones, and they wouldn't be too much of a hindrance to a singer - in fact they may help with the melody's creation. Methinks he doth protest too much.
