i have no idea where to start.... this is just piano, but it gives you an idea of the music hall feel of the song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TFlhdsGbj-Yi'll add a cheesy trombone riff etc if i can find a reasonably good style any suggestions gratefully received - and yes i know i've now lost all musical credibility

I know how you feel.
You get a song in your head, and you'd really like to have it in BIAB but the style choices can be,
rather overwhelming.
For this one, I'd try MARCH_12.STY for a MIDI style, just to begin with.
See if it's sort of what you're after, then you can sort through some others if that one works.
I often start with a MIDI file and get close, then use the Style dropdown selection
"Choose styles similar to current".
And see if something better pops up.

The realstyle _RPIANOM.STY "The Rehearsal Piano 140RS" might be a good start. I tried this style with 220 bpm and simple chords, 3 bars C, 4 bars G and so on and it sounds good. You may add a simple alternating bass as accompaniment, but I think this is not needed.

My first thought was to start by searching for "March".
Some good, mostly not so.
Oddly perhaps, I personally warmed to GUMBOPOP.
Jazz relative beginner, starting at a much older age than was helpful.
