As many jazz players know, there is a wonderful collection of jazz BIAB files at https://bhs.minor9.com/biab/jazz/Unfortunately, however, I can only hear the drum track on most downloaded files. The other instruments aren't muted, and I can see activity on those other tracks, but I just can't hear a thing from any of them (piano, bass, etc.). Only the drums come through loud and clear. Does anyone have any idea what settings I have to change to hear the rest of what is going on? One other point: I never have a problem with hearing all tracks on -- for example -- Norton music files. Hi Steve,
I looked at a couple of files and they are MIDI files. When MIDI files are loaded a Realdrum file often automatically replaces the MIDI drums. It's possible that your system is not properly set up for MIDI, yet.
Just to check...
When you look at your mixer after you've loaded one of the songs, do you see green text for the name of the drums and yellow text for the names of the instruments?

I agree with Noel ... probably your MIDI synth in BiaB is not set up correctly. RealDrums and RealTracks (green) are effectively audio, so your audio setup is OK. Yellow tracks are MIDI and need a functioning MIDI-synth to play. Probably yours is not functioning. Pages 8 and 9 of the manual, and/ortry the MIDI bit from here: Band-in-a-Box® for Windows - No Sound / Driver SetupCheck or get that working before anything else. The default synth is CoyoteWT, which doesn't have great sounds. There's a better synth mentioned on page 9 of the manual, but it's a bit fiddlier to set up. It uses .sf2 sound fonts and there are some pretty good ones on the 'Net. "Compifont", "Timbres of Heaven" and "Jjazzlab soundfont" are all good in different ways. I'd get CoyoteWT working first, before trying anything clever.
Jazz relative beginner, starting at a much older age than was helpful.

You were right: Getting CoyoteWT up and running was definitely the first order of business.
Now I have access to all those jazz files on Tricotism.
