Sorry, can I just ask blush should Utility tracks obey F5 Mute commands?
They appear in F5 and I ask them to mute but they dont. They just play through regardless.
Is there anotherway of muting utlity tracks please?

I'm confused by your question. F5 is a method to open the Bar Settings Dialog Window and Utility Tracks are not included in the Bar Settings Dialog Window, only the 8 original Legacy Tracks. I don't understand how you're attempting to mute from that dialog window.

Beyond that, are you asking to mute the entire track or to mute and return to normal (unmute) regions of a Utility Track?

Charlie,I think I messed up.I put an RT in Melody and Soloist and put 2 different RTs into UTs 1 and 2.I liked the UT ones better so moved them into the Melody and Soloist slots. Yeah,I know,I know blush
Doing F5 on those RTs is maybe the problem. Is it that those two slots don't obey Mute command s in F5?
I'm scratching a living today lol so I'll test it again when I get home.

Hi Wendy
Despite the 'All Tracks Are Equal' mention, some are more equal than others (now, where have I heard that line before? !)
To Mute part of a Utility Track, it's a little different:

Firstly, select the required Utility Track from the Mixer

1: Press the Audio Edit button

2: Select the Volume Automation function

3: Click along the blue line and then drag the nodes to change the volume as required.

Hope this helps.

OK, after I researched an answer and provided my details in my reply post, I then saw Wendy's further post. I hope I'm still on the right track (?)

I don't think you messed up. From the additional information, it appears moving the Utility Tracks to Legacy Tracks converted the UT RT data to audio that BIAB recognizes as an Artist Performance File. That's normal behavior on my system. You didn't say, but I assume the track labels for the Melody and Soloist Tracks now display in the color orange.

Use the instructions AudioTrack has given to mute and adjust the audio levels.

If that doesn't work. Let us know because I haven't taken time to test anything at this point.

Charlie

Hi again.
Sorry im late.tI was busy day yesterday.
CHarlie I think youre right, thats what I did Im sure.
Audiotrack The Audio Edit works but it doesnt do what I want. I had 2 extra tracks (which I put on UTs1 and 2) that I wanted to pop in and out at intervals through out the song. F5 is a doddle to use for that but Audio Edit seems a blunt tool just to give me one change although I guess I could keep on going and editing it to make it come inand out.
A bit of a faff! crazy
Would be a great idea(for me) if F5 could have a drop down to include any enabled UTs.
I think my best tack is to have 2 SGUs-one with main instruments and the second with the top places now filled with my miscelaneous nits and bobs.

Yes, that would definitely provide consistency at a high (mainly normal-user) level.

Other than moving tracks to other tracks, nothing you did caused the issue. It's done automatically by BIAB.

The upside to this file conversion is rather than the restrictive one tool to modify volume from a limited list of 5 coarse and vague presets in Bar Settings (F5), converted files have 10 tools that give extremely precise and accurate control over volume editing.

For future editing where both data and audio files are in use, I suggest you use the 'Settings and Actions' Dialog Window (F7) because it's more advanced and interacts with all of the 24 Tracks whether they are data or audio unlike the limited Bar Settings Dialog Window (F5).

Hi Charlie, thanks for the tip.I'll take a peek whilst im online.
For my simplistic uses F5 cuts it mostly.I imagine a backing band backing my squawking and how they would come in and out at different times.Any specific variations to level in any particular instrument/section that I m ight want I tend to do in Sonar.
