Okay,
Meh!
Remember back in July when I had problems with all the tracks regenerating after the song started? I thought it was hardware, so I bought all new stuff, mobo, RAM, video card, etc. Then, didn't have an opportunity to use BIAB.
So, I upgraded to 2023 yesterday, and all that stuttering and regeneration were still present.
Okay, I know when I'm beat, so I took all the stuff I needed to off of the C:\ drive, formatted it, and installed Windows all over again.
I just installed BIAB 2022 from the external hard drive, and then 2023 from the download. I had spoken with Ember earlier and she said that wouldn't be an issue.
Well, it HALF works. I don't get the regeneration. I also got all my MIDI drivers (finally) Fixed.
The problem now is I get a Real Track Error Type 1, Error Code 256. It generates ONLY the bass and drum parts, nothing else. I've tried multiple styles and this error comes up on everything. I have BIAB 2021 on external hard drive, and I'm getting ready to uninstall, install 2021, then 2022 on top of that, and then 2023. But, before I do, I'm looking for suggestions.
Music has not been a high priority latetly, but I'm finding some more time for it, and I really would like to get BIAB working correctly. So, any help would be appreicated. Thank you in advance.

I have this occur whenever I open a file that has fix sour notes enabled. This was a problem way back when this feature was added to BIAB, fix sour notes consistently generated an error. I have to go to track settings and disable this on any tracks necessary, then the error disappears and all tracks will generate.
It would be great if PG Music could fix this. I have raised it before to no avail. I fix sour notes now by changing any 7th chords to major chords where instruments, particularly pianos, play out of tune.

I found that setting, but it was disabled. Going to have to see what someone else comes up with, but thanks for the idea.

Have you searched the web? I just put Error Type 1, Error Code 256 in Google and it came up with a number of possibilities.

I only found one other instance of that for BIAB, and it was back from 2013. Anything else had nothing to do with BIAB. But, thanks for the suggestion. At least I know I'm not the only person who has run across this in BIAB.   Gary

Gary,
Check the sample rate and bit depth setting in the Windows Audio Center, whatever audio interface If any) you have and the audio settings in Band-in-a-Box. Make sure they all match.
In the Band-in-a-Box audio settings try setting the audio driver to MME. That is the most stable audio setting in the Windows environment. Most people don't like using MME because of latency but latency shouldn't be an issue unless you're recording.
Whatever audio interface you have, visit the manufacturer's website and get the latest driver for your interface. If the website says your audio interface is Windows class compliant, that means Windows uses a built-in audio driver. It's plug it in and go.
Please don't download and install ASIO4ALL. If you have uninstall it. ASIO4ALL was a good tool in it's day but that day has long past.
I'm sure you're frustrated. I would be too. But, it WILL get sorted out.

Jim,
Since both the Real Drum track and Real Tracks bass tracks are working perfectly fine, I don't think it's an audio problem. In fact, if you look in the mixer window, you can see the VU bar, and there's not VU bar for any other Real Track.
So, talked to Chantelle on Live Chat, she suggested a reinstall, and that's what I'm doing currently.

Reloaded 2022 and then 2023, and everything appears to be working correctly.
I'll let you know if there are any other problems.
I'll tell you though, I've got a few years of catching up to do now that I have a reliably working system again.
