I've also found that it works better if you sing the melody straight and nail the notes. If you slide around on the notes, the harmonizer can end up jumping around depending on how far you veer off the note center. Vibrato can affect this as well. I will often record two melody lines; one recorded straight for the harmonizer to use and one as I would generally sing it. Then I just mute the straight version for the final rendering.

Then I use the preview feature to change the settings until I get somethinig I'm happy with.
