Back when I was a young carpenter, I witnessed one of the older guys nailing a corner together, along with himself.

It was a 'stud-block-stud' corner and he had his hand under one of the blocks, which allowed him to nail thru his hand and two pieces of wood (on on each side). We offered to either sawzall the corner chunk out and go to the doc with him still nailed in it, or we could pull the nail while he tried to take the pain.

He opted for choice #2, as he didn't want the embarrasment of showing up in the ER looking like an idiot. He clenched down on his bandana and another guy pulled the nail as fast as he could.
He was back at work later in the day and took all the ribbing in stride.

A month later he fell off the roof. Some people are more accident prone than others.

Glad to see OP will keep his fingers OK. Worst I ever got was a cut from a razor knife; didn't even need stitches. Duct tape and a napkin!
