Roger Whittaker the Rhodesian voice did a lot of good busking songs.

Some old clothes, sit on cardboard, old Neil Young type hat upside down, look like you are going to cry, and throw a couple of coins and a bill into the hat. On a dare I went to Toronto with a horn and made $200 in a day. I played sad songs and old hymns. Heavy paper, scrunched up, grease marks with a clothes pin to hold them together propped up on an old piece of wood I found.

The local media did a piece on a woman who begged on the corner every day for over 25 years. Turns out her husband sells vegetables out of a truck, and she begs and they have a million dollar house. She got on the train every day and went home 45 minutes to servants. Speculation was she made $1000 on a good day, tax free. The gravy train was over when exposed. Where are your taxes lady? Hubby didn't pay either. Ha...oh and gloves with no fingertips, cut to make them look worn out is a good look. Guy asks me if I want a coffee. I say no, beer! He comes back 10 minutes later with 6 beers. I actually had so much food I couldn't eat the half. Most of it was processed food like a Subway sandwich, which takes me over an hour to eat if I do eat it. Processed meat...unless it's homemade Italian sausage without preservatives,...maybe. Or German. Forget processed pressed ham, Bologna made in factories YUK. I make my own bread.

Busking can be fun, but I can't stand up very long, (since 10 years) and my backside can't handle it.

The books have the melody. If you are good enough to do without fine. Each piece takes me about 10 minutes. In 2 hours you have enough to fill a set easily.

I know guys here would take it to a DAW, add the signature licks, bring the organ in on exactly the 22nd bar 3rd beat just like the Band did when they recorded a live performance on the Isle of Wight after drinking 7 pints of warm guiness during a hailstorm that lasted 10 minutes and shorted out the bass player's wiring and messing with everyone's bandana. Oh well.

I'm sure the original impresario did Scarborough Fair totally different from the way the wife plays it on the flute with me on keys. He probably wore a hat with wee bells and was starving to death and the troubadours with him were busy picking pockets. I never felt the need to recreate the period to that degree, anyway there were no women allowed then. Music was a man's game. See how far we've evolved. I cook, she works, I let her play instruments and she votes.

I'd better go and make brunch or else...

The only good thing about going deaf is the wife can't give me the silent treatment.....LOL

John, the books cost a fortune! I was looking at the book on Amazon for disk #23 (Just Classic Rock). It retails on Amazon for over $100! How easy is it to figure out where the actual lyrics should be placed by looking at one of the online free libraries (say www.ultimateguitar.com for instance)?

The classic rock one here is less, 19.00.

The one I pointed out, Early Rock and Roll, Notes Norton has available all the chord changes and a suggested style for.

The one your are looking at is a good book and all, but later music. And it's still under $20 bucks for me. Maybe you have to pay $80 in German Taxes as a person who fled his mother country.

I plan to get a small stool. It should also help to have my dog with me
