Here's a screen shot of Head Games, which has a little more detailed arrangement:

Notice it starts off with just the drums and two acoustic guitars. I bring in the bass at the same time as the main vocal. Sarah had four harmony parts going but I muted the harmonies on 3 and 4 till the chorus, where I also brought in the two electric guitars. Dropped out the electrics for the next verse, brought down the acoustics, cranked the organ, and dropped out Harm 1 and 2 for for the next verse. Notice at the end, I brought down all the guitars and organ for a slow build to the finish.

Note, for those of you that can bring up two windows, open the song (Head Games) in one window while you watch this screen shot, and you can easily see how the song expands and contracts.

Harvey,

Great stuff! I am constantly amazed at what can be done with BB/RT/RD! It's obvious you know how to work it.

Hi Harvey,

Thank you very much for placing a clearer picture.
This certainly helps me understand how a song can be built up (or down) as and when required.
I think the "trick" is knowing when to use these tools.

Once again thanks Harvey.

Best regards
Michee

Haven't heard that kind of chicken-fried-down-home-smooth-tasty-steak, since I lived in San Antonio and listened to some of this at the RiverWalk....sure sounded REAL to these here ol'ears! So I'm right in this long line of purveyors of fine commercial endeavors!

I'd like to add one more post since this mixing aspect seems to interest everybody here. I's pretty long so I've posted it in "tips and tricks". The pictures I've posted didn't show the panning, reverb, eq, and level tricks that were used, so this new thread is a discussion of those techniques.
