Hi dmrodes,

When I generate a RT solo - the song replays from the beginning..if I generate a midi solo, it starts at the 2 bars before the solo, which is what I expected from RT as well. Is this correct?

This has always been the case. I imagine that this is a result of the way in which the two types of solo are created.

When a MIDI solo is generated, a set of computer instructions is assembled that are then sent to a MIDI device to interpret as sounds and articulation. This process is completed very quickly and the solo doesn't start playing until all the calculations are done.

With a Realtrack solo, on the other hand, my understanding is that RTs are generated as a background process. This process begins at bar 1 (whether or not it's actually sounding at bar 1) and works it's way through the song. Playing of the song starts shortly after RT generation begins and before it is completed. RT generation continues while the song is playing. In other words, the song begins playing before the computer has finished constructing the solo.

What I do is to generate a RT solo and then double-click on a bar that's 2 or 3 bars before where I have the solo occurring. There's usually a 5 or so second delay while the solo is building to that bar I double-clicked on. Once the solo has been generated at the bar on which I double-clicked, it will play from that bar. It's not necessary to listen from the beginning of the song each time.
