I am trying to increase the volume on the solo bars. I pull down the solo tab, hit the adjust volume item and bring it up. The default is 10. I increase to about 50 and close it. It doesn't change anything. Is there another step? Thanks.

You mean you click on the solo button beside the rest and then it shows the instrument, and you change the spinner?
That has always worked.
If using the solo track you can also go to the first bar, press f5 and have a go at that.

Thanks for your help. I tried the F5 thing and I'm not sure I got the result I was looking for.
I'm trying to insert three solos such as piano, guitar, or harmonica into three different choruses-a different one in each chorus. I want the piano or solo to be louder from measure 17-24. The at measure 25, the solo stops and I pick it up there.

When you press f5 you can change the volume of any track you want, at that bar. Or set it back to 'normal' which is what is was at the start.
So if you want to start with the solo track at 60, then change it to 85 at bar 17 you go to bar 17 with the cursor and press f5. Then you change the volumes of any track there. Any bar with a red marker in it has some sort of thing you can find using f5 including instrument changes.
Most people here, if they really wanted 3 soloists, would use Realband. Another bunch to learn, but it's easier to manage because you can have each of a different track.
